Your preferences are used to change some settings of game play for your convenience. You can access this page by clicking “Preferences” under the “Standard Menu”.
Under this section, you can change some personal settings, depending on your rank.
By choosing to not Receive PMs you will not get any personal messages through your Inbox at all. If you wish to edit your preferences so only certain people can or cannot message you, go through your Black/Whitelist.
By locking your account after three unsuccessful login attempts, you will be increasing your account's security. This blocks anyone from logging into that account for a certain amount of time, and therefore helps to prevent others from guessing your password.
As a Genin, you can choose whether or not to allow a sensei. This prevents random Jounin+ people from drafting you as their student. Remember, if you later want to get a sensei, you must keep this setting at “Yes”.
As a Chuunin or higher, you can choose whether to enable ANBUs or not. This prevents random Squad Leaders from drafting you into their squad. Remember, if you later want to join or lead a squad, you must keep this setting at “Yes”.
You must be ranked Genin or higher to upload an avatar, or user picture. Your avatar can be a maximum size of 100×100 pixels and 25 kb, and must be a .gif format. To increase this size to 100kb, you can become a Federal Supporter.
To preserve your picture's quality, you can save the picture as a .png or .jpeg and manually change the file extension. In order to do this you will have to go to My Computer→ Folder Options→ Hide/Unhide Known File Extensions. After you unhide known file extensions, you should be able to change extensions when renaming the picture.
Changing your password is simple and easy. Click on this link and you'll be asked to enter your old password twice, and the new password as well.
While you're considering this, please remember to choose good, hard-to-guess passwords. Good passwords include both lowercase and uppercase letters and numbers. (“password” is not a good password.) It's also highly, highly recommended that you don't use the same account name and password for multiple sites, especially your email. It may be harder to remember, but it's for your own safety.
By entering your password for confirmation and clicking to delete your account, a one-week timer will begin. At the end of this week, your account will be put on the list of accounts to be deleted at the next account wipe. Account wipes are done infrequently, manually done by admins.
The account deletion function is usually used by people meaning to delete their alt so they can create another one and not violate the maximum of two accounts rule. If you are doing this for that reason, please be sure to wait until the account is entirely gone before creating another one.
When waiting for the next account wipe, please be patient. Asking when the next one will be or demanding one to happen immediately does not help anyone in any way.
You can change your settings to block your Black List or everyone except your White List.
To add people to your Black or White Lists, scroll down to the “Add user” menu. Enter the name of the person in the box provided and choose which list you wish to add them to.
To remove people from your Black or White Lists, under the “Black / whitelist” menu, choose their name and then click “Remove selected”.
Your profile links to your nindo, which can be viewed by everyone.
Your nindo can be used practically however you please. Some people write their way of the ninja, some people write their role-playing character's information, some people use it to write short stories, some people use it to record epic battles, some people just put a joke in there, et cetera.
Nindos have a size limitation. To increase this limit, you must become a Federal Supporter.
TheNinja-RPG just got prettier. You can change the looks of the game by changing your layout through your Preferences. They each offer to different tastes.
If you're a skilled layout gnome, you can contribute to TNR's layouts through the Core 2 - Layouts thread in the Freelance Jobs section of the Forum.
