View Full Version : ANBU for the Apocalypse
With talks of a demonic apocalypse rapidly spreading, it had become obvious to those staffing the special training facility that More ANBU would probably be needed to oppose the threat over Seichi.
As such, the applications were pulled for three potentially promising candidates. They were each given a mask and dark colored robes to wear, so that their identities would remain a secret. These shinobi were not from the same village, after all, and the identity of an ANBU was something that needed to be guarded at all costs.
Any who showed up not in their assigned training uniform would automatically fail.
The first round of training would consist of two simple training exercises. The classroom was only the area for the three shinobi to initially meet.

So it was time. To say Rin wasn’t a bit nervous woulda been a lie. ANBU; the most elite fighting force a shinobi village had. Now she was trying to become one. Rin adjusted the gear she’d been ordered to wear. It was weird, wearing a mask. She wasn’t quite use to hiding her identity like this, but there wasn’t any choice. ANBU were anonymous.
Her normal clothes were gone too. Replaced by dark colored uniform. She still had all her weapons and pouches in their proper places of course. Her backpack too was in its usual place, complete with a armadillo stowed inside. Masami wasn’t amused however, being dressed in a mini-ANBU uniform. No, the armadillo was not pleased at all.
“You will suffer for this… “ Came the muffled voice in her bag.
Rin smile behind her mask. “Oh I’m sure, but wait till we get home.”
They arrived at the designated place and waited. Curious and a bit nervous about what all they were gonna be put through.

Jashinru walking back to Hyouga was frustrated with himself as a ninja. He felt he was not doing his job in this time of madness and chaos. Two demon attacks and he was useless in both of them, not to mention he still had the guilt of how this all started anyways. He was beating himself up on the inside, but when he got home his house was beat up on the outside, and looked as if someone attempted to destroy it. He found sealed box, that was pretty much the only still decent piece of it.
He opened it, and it was a letter saying he must report for anbu training immediately, apparently Hyouga was in dier need of them, so to show his acceptance of this here he is, and robed up in black and wearing a plane white mask. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/Megapuffjono/ANBUmaskgroup013.jpg everything else on his person was just as normal except he was wearing his sword on his back. He'd walk in and see the other trainee in the room and would acknowledge them with a nod, he'd then lean up against a desk and wait for others to appear and wouldn't speak unless spoken to.

Leera would arrive at the classroom wearing the mask she had been given, with the dark robes replacing her normal attire. Her weapons would be placed on her person as they usually were, so she didn't feel completely out of her her element. If anything, she felt extremely comfortable, expecially since nobody could recognize her.
While she was comfortable with her appearance and herself, that fact that she was now actually training to become an ANBU had her...just a little nervous. A lot, actually. But just like Victor, this was a goal that she set for herself and she was going to succeed. Somehow. Hopefully.
She didn't have Reni or Albion with her, they were tucked away in the safe house keeping an eye on Alamea. They had complained the entire time she'd been there, but she knew the foxes would blow her cover, they'd always been with her during her training. Maybe Reni could eventually learn to Henge and follow her. The kunoichi smiled slightly behind her mask at the thought. Then it was gone, it was time to be serious. She had to become stronger to make Seichi safe once again for her family.
Seeing that the three candidates had arrived, the instructor would inform them, Welcome to ANBU training. The program will be brief, but comprehensive and taxing. you will be expected to demonstrate basic skills that any anbu should possess. These are three key areas- stealth, tracking and team work.
He would pace back and forth in front of the three candidates, looking them over. The training will consist of two simple training exercises, followed by a mission. Upon completion of the mission, you will be informed individually whether or not you were recommended for your village's ANBU program.
Once the candidates had been given sufficient time to comprehend his instructions, the instructor would hurl a flash bomb on the ground, temporarily blinding the three so he could hide himself. Obviously, the first training exercise was to locate him. They would find no footprints leading from where he had been standing.

Rin waited patiently for whomever else was to arrive. Now that she was sitting in place, she didn’t feel as much need to be nervous as she listened to the sound of nature. That was till the trainees started filing in. She counted two others besides herself. Rin had expected more, honestly. Then again she was sure the villages weren’t sparing their ninja as much. She had barely gotten the leave to come, and only because they needed more ANBU.
Rin gave a nod back to the one, who looked like a man. Then another arrived who looked like a woman. So two women and a guy. A bit more unexpected, but Rin didn’t pay it too much more notice. They all had to be capable if they were here.
Her attention shifted onto the instructor as he showed up. Rin stood in line as the instructor paced up and down their line. Her eyes following him with wary interest. Strangely enough, Rin still felt more or less relaxed. So weird.
Well they had their work cut out for them it seemed. That was okay with Rin. She didn’t really want to be away from her village that long. The danger and difficulty, well she’d tackle that as it came.
The flash bomb caught her by surprise. She flinched and drew her dagger simultaneously as her vision was blurred. She was expecting an attack, until her vision cleared and the instructor was nowhere to be seen.
‘Well, guess its tracking first.’ Rin sighed and glanced at the other trainees. “You can call me Mizu.” Fake name, but still a name. Since Rin didn’t want to be a ‘Hey you with the swirly mask’. “Any of you have tracking skills?” She asked as she sheathed her dagger and drew out a kunai and wire length.

Jashinru stashed the note away as the last person to be trained entered. It seemed it was time to get started and Jashinru stood straight up just as the other anbu did and watched as they were looked up and down by thier instructor. When he heard brief he was in a bit of relief no that rhyme was an accident but still he was relieved because of the state of seichi and wanted to check on all his loved ones as soon as possible, and with him in here and them out thier he wasn't too confident but he was willing to stay so he could get the training that was needed.
So it began as the instructor threw a flash bomb Jashinru covered his eyes with his left arm quickly drawing a kunai from its holster prepping for the worst but as the blinding flash disappeared so was their proctor it seemed. "So it begins." he said, he then looked at the one called 'Mizu.' "Well just call me Z." he didn't really think of a name so he thought of the last letter in the alphabet and went with it. "Well I think, I may have a tracking solution." he'd then look at the last member of the group, "Well whats your alias?.." he'd ask her.
After hearing what she called herself. "Now that were all aquainted lets get down to business." He'd pull out his Hell scroll and tap it. "Time to try out my new invention." He'd unseal the scroll and unseal 8 hell butterflies from it. "Meet my hell butterflies. Genetically enhanced for scouting." Sir..You have summoned us... the butterflies asked in unison. Yes. Time for your first assignment...get to searching around this room for another person, let me know if you find anything.
The other two wouldn't be able to hear the conversation between him and the butterflies because they were speaking telepathically. So it would pretty much be a long silence. "Alright i've told them to scout around this room, we should probably search for evidence that he's left the room as well." Jashinru would say. The butterflies would then do as commanded and search around the room in every nuk and cranny that their is.
Leera would hear the other two out first, before finally speaking herself. She would watch as "Z" summoned his hell butterflies. It was a good idea, she might even have to ask him for her own later. But for now, there were more important things to concentrate on. "You can call me Pyro, and I do have an idea to make sure he's not still in the room..."
The kunoichi would set off a smoke bomb, filling the room with white/silvery smoke, before she activated Smoke Sight. If the instructor was using a jutsu similar to the one Victor was trained in, the smoke would still move around him as if he were there, and she would be able to see it.
If she caught site of what she was looking for, she would direct her fellow trainees to his location while her wires went into action, trying to capture him. However, if she saw nothing, she would simply use an explosive tag, tossing it far enough away that it wouldn't affect them, to clear the smoke.
It was the very least she could contribute, amd she would complete it fast enough that her teammates would not be disabled for very long.
the group would realize that the instructor was not int he room. However, the butterflies would be able to follow his scent to the fields outside the training facility. Once they got about 40 meters from the facility, the smell would just stop.
As it so happened, he had burrowed under the ground with Projection lure at this point, and had spent the last several minutes burrowing under the ground. He had been careful to burrow under a thick set of bushes, so they wouldn't be able to follow his burrow tracks, and had intentionally made his path obsecure.
Ultimately, he had hidden under one of the trees in the area. But did the group have a way to find that?

The girl’s voice was quite familiar to Rin. Pretty darn familiar, but things were moving to quickly for her to waste time pondering. The butterflies were really interesting to Rin. She also found it some what Ironic that someone calling himself “Z” was using butterflies. Still, it saved her having to bring Masami out for the time being.
However, Rin was really not amused when the girl filled the room with smoke. ‘Oh fantatic’. She sighed and let the others take the lead, as it seemed the instructor was not in the room. Following the butterflies they were lead outside.
“Hindering your teammates isn’t always the best idea.” Rin would say to her. “Especially without real warning.”
When the funny little critters seemed to lose the scent, Rin would take over. Her eyes scanned the area for any potential signs, and if not finding any she would move on to a jutsu. Her hands flipped through seals quickly. Then she held out her kunai and string and activated her Dowsing jutsu. The kunai would begin swinging back and forth while glowing blue with chakra. Searching out any energy pools large enough to potently be the proctor. “This will take a moment.” She said.

As the smoke took the area of the room, Jashinru just sighed a bit, but in the end he thought that everyone had their own ways of doing things so he waited till the smoke cleared before doing anything else. Once it did clear however his butterflies had something to report. Sir no one else is in here, but we have picked up a scent. they said to him. Well then lead the way.. he'd then look at his two teammates. "They've found a scent, shall we." he'd say letting the two ladys exit first holding his hand out towards the direction of the door.
Once out he'd follow the butterflies in the direction they were leading him, once they got 40 yards out it seemed that the scent came to an end. Jashinru lowered his head to the location, and started checking the ground around. "Did he just disappear...." Jashinru rubbed his chin and looked around. "Where could he have gone?" He then watched as rin was ready to do her part. He was smiling inside of his mask, and nodded as she did her thing. Meanwhile he'd start preparing a little of his own, pulling out his hell scroll once more, he'd unseal 20 more butteflies.
Scatter!! scout everything you can manage to fit, yourselves into in this area, bushes trees whatever...Just go... Unless Mizu found it first, the butterflies would scout into the bushes and see the burrowing hole.
Leera felt like she recognized both of their voices, although she wasn't completely sure without seeing them. But they didn't give her a bad vibe, and she allowed Mizu's comment to pass as advice rather than criticism. I'm related to my cousin, after all...
As the other two worked, she wished she'd brought Reni with her. The little fox was pretty good at scouting, while the majority of Leera's jutsu were focused on stealth or capturing her opponent. I can do this, I just need to calm down...I can prove myself soon enough if I don't blow it all.
But if the scent had ended...her thoughts drifted to Victor and his jutsu. If the proctor went underground, his scent would no longer be high enough for them to find. It was one of Victor's favorite tactics. And she also knew a few jutsu that he typically used along with it to sense when someone approached.
"You can keep doing what you're doing, but don't move...he might be underground trying to sense whenever one of us approach..."
Her idea would be whispered so they could hear, and she simply hoped they listened. It was only an idea afterall, but it was better than nothing...
The dowsing jutsu would clearly indicate the chakra of the instructor as being in the area of that tree. He, of course, didn't have much he could do, but this was meant to be a very basic tracking exercise.
Now the question was- the group had their prey in their sites- how did they get him out of his hiding place?

“Exactly what I had been thinking.” Rin confirmed to the girl who now seemed pretty darn familiar. In fact she thought she had a name to go with it, but she’d sort that out later.
Her jutsu locked onto the proctor’s chakra signature. Under a nearby tree. “Found em’.” She said nodding at the tree. “Underground most likely.”
“If ya’ll don’t have any way to get him out, I do.” She said, waiting for them to offer up a jutsu or whatever.
If they didn’t, Rin would flip through seals and use her Thunder Fang jutsu. Using C rank’s worth of lightning to hit the tree, which in turn would get the proctor if he was near the roots. It wouldn’t be enough to hurt him, but it sure would make it unpleasant to stay there.

Jashinru looked at the Dowsing technique point at the tree. I know he's not in that tree. Which means.. Mizu pointed it out for him, he's obviously underground. "Actually I do have a jutsu for our hiding Teacher." Jashinru flipped through handseals, and then he'd use Doton: Magunityu-do [Earth Release: Magnitude] on the tree. Shaking the teacher out is easy when he has like two choices between coming out or being smushed.
Shaking the area around the tree Jashinru would look at the ladys while the jutsu was still in affect. "Well if either of you have anything to add by all means go ahead, i'm not sure if this will get him out of his hiding spot." he'd say. You guys keep your senses sharp for him, make sure he doesn't escape above ground without me knowing. he'd tell his butterflies. Yes sur. they'd say in response.
After the jutsu would end Jashinru would keep a good eye on his target, to see if anything happened.
Leera would let her teammates go ahead with their own plans, however now she felt like she could finally be of use.
"I have a way to catch him if ya'll manage to get him out..."
If her teammates' efforts worked, Leera would have already flown through the necessary handseals, as soon as she caught just a glance of the instructor, she would activate Water Prison Technique, pretty sure that fire was not the best option for the situation.
the instructor could sense the ground vibrating and would surface to avoid any harm, and signify to the group that the tracking exercise was a success.
Of course, he was caught in the water prison as he came up. Added bonus- they had a way to catch their pray too. He would give them a thumbs up from inside of the prison, signalling the exercise was over.
Once he was presumably freed from the prison, he would then tell them, now it is your turn- i will give you all one minute to hide anywhere on the grounds, and then i will track you down. after saying this, he would sit with his legs crossed on the ground and close his eyes beneathe his mask, waiting for them to hide.

Well that worked out amazingly well, Rin thought. Between the three of them they effectively exposed and captured the proctor.
Yet they didn’t have a whole lot of time to celebrate their success. Not that she expected they would. ‘Anywhere on the grounds hm?’ Rin had a pretty good idea of a place.
Rin vanished as quick as she could. Taking to roof tops as she ran. Bouncing back and forth around the roofs to make it hard to track. Finally Rin found the place she was looking for. The dormitories. After completing a Henge, Rin walked right into the building disguised as a young student. Picking a random, empty room Rin let herself in and took up to occupying the room. She sat down at the desk and started to look busy. Writing random things on a piece of paper she found in the desk. Like some student doing homework.
There were always a lot of students coming and going. Enough Rin could blend in with the masses. Even smells and chakra signitures should get muddled a bit.
Leera would also hurry off, jumping from tree to tree as she hurried as quickly as possible to the building that held the swimming pool.
Just outside of the building she would perform Kirigakure, followed by Mizu no kiriandSight. This would remain active until she entered the building and hopefully mask her scent.
Once inside the building, she would Henge into her own daughter, wearing a very conservative bathing suit, before diving into the water. She would then perform Mist Blower to cover her scent from the door to the pool, making the mist disperse before doing laps back and forth.

As soon as the proctor gave them their next task Jashinru was quick to follow what he was told. Pulling out his hell scroll he sealed back up all the butterflies, and ran off with the quickness of chuunin excellent speed, not wasting anytime at all. Jashinru already had a plan. He ran around to the nearest pond he could find, he took off one of his shoes and left it right thier in front of the pond. He'd then Suimen across the pond, once in the middle of the pond he'd throw his shoe, over in some bushes about 15 meters east of the other shoe.
He'd then continue his run straight across the pond. Once out of the water, he'd check his feet and dry them off, and then he'd jump back into the trees and run straight for the academy, quickly trying to find somewhere to hide, checking behind him to make sure he left no traces of his being. He'd mozy on into an empty dark classroom, and henge himself into a skeletol science figure, hanging from a rack. Making sure to be perfectly quiet and still.
Just an idea of what he's henged into. http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/ru/u1/understand-skeletal-system-200X200.jpg
OOC: Sorry for the delay, i was away all day today. I am also not feeling well, so a short post for now.
IC: The instructor would rise and see the group passed his initial check. They were no where to be seen and at least one fo them had created a layer of moisture in the air, covering the scents of the group so he couldn't track them that way.
Next came the visual sweep. He would have several assistants run around looking for the three in their uniforms, but see no one matching their descriptions. Which meant they were at least all smart enough to remember to use henge.
Now, they were hiding with the intention of not being caught, rather than launching a surprise attack. This was an important distinction to establish in his tracking method. Scent was out, because of the moisture. He went through a variety of tracking jutsu he knew of in his mind to try and determine if they could be found without the use of anbu skills. And it seemed he could not. For the purposes of remaining hidden before a battle, they were passable.
Performing a few handseals, he would cause several birds made of chakra to appear, whom he then presented with photos of the three. This anbu jutsu could see through chakra and henge and other things, and would seek the three out, where an assistant would then go lead them back to the training area.
The time for the mission was at hand. Are you ready for your first anbu mission briefing? he would ask them.

Jashinru was spotted in his transformation, by the bird of chakra and walked out the classroom, and followed it all the way back to the assistant who then lead him and the other two back to the training grounds. Once he heard the announcement for the mission, he smiled inside the mask. Guess I passed the second portion. he'd think to himself. He was worried if he was doing well during the training, but guess he was doing alright.
"Yes." he'd say just as well giving a nod that he was ready to hear his mission assignment. Anbu was just within jashinrus grasp and he was ready to grab it by any means necessary.

Time went by and when nobody busted down the door in an ANBU uniform, she felt fairly confidant her hiding was a success. They eventually sent out those ANBU birds to find them though. Slightly annoying, but useful creatures.
Rin dropped her henge and returned to the group. Mission time it seemed. Fine by her. “Yes sir.” She said and nodded. Now the real challenge was coming. She just knew.
It seemed that they had passed the second test, Leera was rather pleased at that. Now it was time for a mission.
"Yes, sir."
The kunoichi's answer would soflt echo Mizu's as they waited for further instruction.
The Captain would explain the details. (http://www.theninja-forum.com/Vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1261317#post1261317) You will have three days to complete your mission, which will be lead by an elite squad leader chosen by the Sati ANBU Captain for the mission. His only purpose is to keep himself alive and make sure information gets back to us should you all fail and die- you three will be responsible for conducting yourselves as a team without his help.
The instructor would give them each a scroll. This contains the coordinates for you to meet your squad leader, whom will explain to you the intelligence we currently have on the demon threat before you embark. Good luck.

Jashinru nodded as he was handed the scroll and bowed respectfully to the instructor. He had enjoyed himself on this training and now it was time to get down to business. Once his other two teammates were ready to leave he'd leave himself, and follow the coordinates to his Squad leader.

Three days wasn’t really long for snooping around demons, but too long and they might be discovered. Rin took the scroll as she thought about the assignment. So basically they were on their own, with a ANBU captain hovering over their shoulders. Fun.
Rin left in order to head for the quadrants.

Leera would also accept her scroll, nodding, before heading off. She would access the scroll and follow the quadrants given to them. They only had a few days to complete their mission and she didn't want to hold them back even a little.
