After Zaraken's third class, he went home to relax. Weeks of traveling back and forth to spend time with children tired him out. He went to saunas, relaxed in the tub, and did easy workouts. But mostly he spent time in the dark, thinking quietly, watching the moon. Occasionally, he would spend time with Bugot. That time always proved to be eventful but not really in a good way. After a slow but smooth recovery, he was ready for more action. First, he needed a goal, or rather, goals. He was an ambitious one.
It's about time to find my place in the world. Am I more a vampire or a human? A black ops or a med nin? Is Konoki the place to stay or...?
He let his thoughts wander.
Or... even before any of that, what have I been so far?
Let's see... I began my ninja days in the library. Looks like that hasn't changed much. I still read too much. Most of these books are probably just full of legends. Still, it's not too bad. I owe a lot of what I know to the library, especially the parts that no one's supposed to know about. Arashi's chantry was full of useful stuff and selling those books has kept me well financially.
Hmm.. what else did I do? I guess next was the classes. Both by the same person. Jiiton, Sai. He was kind of crazy. Which... is boring by my standards. I mean, the only real danger he put us through was all a hoax. It was a genjutsu. The classes were kind of boring from what I remember. I'll just skip over them.
Zaraken's thoughts came to a sudden halt as he arrived at a hotel. He unpacked, talked to the employees there for a second, the usual. "It's been a while, Safe Haven..."
Zaraken finished unpacking. His luggage was mechanical - full of all the necessities but without any luxury beyond that. Sighing as he finished, Zaraken kicked back to lie on the full-size bed. The room was dimly lit, the standard thoughtful scene to which he was getting used.
And who could forget... The Tremere. That was definitely the big one. Now I can't even eat normal food... But it was worth it. Their skills are great. Chakra control, they are born ninjutsu usuers. Well, not really born but that's not the point. Then there's the other stuff. Some of the abilities are just freaky but in a good way. It's strange though. I've never even met this "Tremere." In fact, Arashi's the highest ranked Tremere I've even confirmed exists.
Zaraken turned over in bed to look at a candle on the desk. Its wax was slowly melting and its fire reflected in his eyes. He wasn't quite sure why but it seemed like a good time to think back on his childhood. It was such as short time ago but so much had happened.
That about covers being an academy student then. It wasn't too.. well, it wasn't too interesting.
And next comes genin. Now that was a good time. The very brightest part of youth.
Can't say it started out too great, though. Yuki... Yuki... Romada? My first loss. I don't get how he was so prepared already. How old was he, anyway? I think he was older than I am now. But those gates... they're so powerful. Taijutsu users are scary.
As Zaraken went through his life, he sat up in bed. The flashbacks had gotten less boring and he didn't want to change things for the worse. Being a genin was supposed to merely be a step on his way to better things, not the highlight of his life.
Now... what else was there? Basics were important, I guess. I do use them a lot...
And then there were the people. That one ice guy. The Tremere genin. Don't really remember them all too well actually.
Zaraken's thoughts grew shorter as he fell asleep. The next day, the candle was just a mound of melted wax. He quietly left the hotel room, remember to put on sunscreen first. Down the stairs and through the front door to the streets of Safe Haven.
To begin his trip, Zaraken went to buy his usual weaponry. He checked his pockets by feeling the outside, making sure that he brought everything. "Let's see... kunai? Check. Pills? Check. Random stuff? Check. Tags, bombs... and my wire stuff. I guess that's all of it."
Zaraken walked down the street and looked around at all the shops. It was still morning so the street was relatively empty but the places were still open. He took a kunai out of his pouch and examined. Ah, yes. My favorite one. I only use it to train so I don't lose it.
"So many shops but nothing to buy... Maybe I should have something custom made soon." Or... maybe... I should start my own business. Zaraken's idea blossomed in his mind. It soon grew into a master plan of marketing around the world. Yeah, that doesn't sound too bad. I have to find something before the money dries up. Ninja supplies company... There are a lot of them but they're so high in demand anyway.
Zaraken stopped by a bench on the side of the street to think about his new plans. He took a seat, leaning his left foot in and his right foot out. Slowly he began resting his head on his left hand while his right hand ran along the bench's material.
Well... If I'm going to start a business, I should make sure to work out the details. Should I keep it in the dark like the Tremere? ...Probably not. So it has to be on the "good" side.
It needs to be organized, too. Definitely. Like the Tremere, actually. I'll be CEO and... and... Well, the rest will work itself out. It's just a normal company, anyway. I just need some creativity, ingenuity... efficiency. Whatever.
"I guess that's about it, then. That's what I'll do." Zaraken got up off the bench and brushed himself off. He was happy to find something to do with his time. As he walked down the street, his steps were much lighter than usual.
He would spend the rest of the day just looking at the sites. Visiting stores without any intention of buying things. Copying down other merchandise's designs. Talking to strangers for no apparent reason. All in all, it was a good day for him. He would leave to go home the next day.
Exit.
