Rules

Academy Student Pets
Baby, cub, it does nothing but snuggles with you and watch your spars. They can hiss/growl and scratch, but can be easily thwacked away.
Genin pets
They get a nifty headband. They can learn how to scout efficiently and are capable of causing minor damage
Chuunin Pets
Knows two basics; Kinobori & Suimen. The animal should be grown or a young adult, thus it can attack effectively and is allowed jutsu that are E-B. If you do add a jutsu to your RPC, subtract one jutsu slot from your RPC for each jutsu you give the pet. Yep, having a pet doesn't give you freebie jutsu.
Jounin Pets
Knows all four basics; Kinobori, Suimen, Kai & Nawanuke. The animal should be full grown and can be brought up to it's potential. As before, you may add jutsu ranked E-B to your pet at the expense of your own jutsu slots.

Some species of certain types of animals are too large for the forum in either weight, length, height, or a combination, and are subject to denial bsed on those terms. When striving to create something that you know can get fairly large, try instead to pick a similar species that is slightly smaller. (Example being, choosing a Black Bear instead of a Polar Bear)
No hand-me-down pets. Your jounin father can't give you a Jounin pet that will actually listen to you, and obey all your commands.
All pets must start as an Academy Student Level. The exception to this is: From now on all newly created RPCs are now able to make 1 [one] pet of their own rank upon creation. However this requires the RPC in question to have a considerable history with the pet in question in addition to the rest of your RPCs history (1 paragraph of 250 words per pet rank minimum) at the least to demonstrate the RPCs relationship with their pet and its growth to compensate for the ranks skipped. If the new RPC in question is replacing an RPC that had a high ranking pet, you may create a pet of equal rank, forgoing the additional history. This is only valid for the RPC directly replacing the previous pet user.
The number of pets a shinobi may have is left to moderator discretion based on a number of factors. Examples include weapons on the user's profile, the presnce of pet-related jutsu and pet related strengths.
Pets beyond the first are capped at a rank below the user.
Animals can not have weapons on there profiles at all. No armor, no kunai, no shurikens. Beaks, fangs, claws. Hell they already have weapons. That said, there is nothing stopping them from using something in thread given they have the capacity to.
A User MUST have the Ikimono Benkou [Animal Speech] to train and communicate with their pets. One can not rank up there pet unless they have this jutsu first.
No dinosaurs or extinct animals from 1800 AD and past. Since I know some animals have gone extinct rather recently; like some types of wolves have gone extinct in the 1900s.
No fictional animals, no mythical creatures. No griffons. No fancy unicorns. Exceptions may be made for pets taken as the user's legendary weapon.
Most important; Read up on your animal! Research e.e
Some... genetic mutations are allowed, though if you are sending in a mutated animal, I shall be very picky about it. And some cross breeds are acceptable. I don't want to see a falcon/dog mix though, where the dog has wings. Though make sure to have an accurate background for why you would have a mutated pet.
Legendary pets

If your RPC has reached Jounin rank, then they are entitled to create a Legendary Pet. These pets become the primary pet of the user, meaning all other pets the RPC has are capped at a rank below his or her rank.
AS and Genin Legendary Pets
Same as normal AS and Genin pets except as below.
Chuunin Legendary Pets
At this rank, the pet can learn up to B ranked jutsu. As well, the pet gains a natural passive special ability on par with a C rank jutsu.
Jounin Legendary Pets
At this rank, the pet can learn up to A ranked jutsu. The natural special ability also becomes more potent at this rank, becoming on par with a B rank jutsu.
Elite Jounin Legendary Pets
At this rank, the pet can learn up to S ranked jutsu. Being legendary, as Legendary Pets tend to be, a second natural ability develops. This one will suppliment the first, and can be on par with a C rank jutsu
Legendary Pets must have the approval of three Head RP Moderators.
All Legendary Pets start at AS rank. The exception is when turning a normal pet into a legendary one or directly replacing a pet of the same rank, in which case it retains it's rank.
Legendary Pets can be mythical creatures of normal size.
All Legendary Pets can speak Common naturally.
Legendary pets are of the same power as their shinobi counterpart. In other words, a genin legendary pet is one rank higher than a regular genin pet.
EJ pets = Jounin power.
Jounin pets = Chuunin power.
Chuunin pets = Genin power.
Genin pets = AS power.
AS pets = Powerless.
Notes: This also includes chakra/stamina capacity (except in the case of a legendary pet). A Jounin-level pet will have Chuunin-level pools, for example. This also holds true to summons in general.

Length/Height: Please do research on what your animal's height would be. Exaggeration is welcomed. But to an extent.
Weight: Please do research on what your animal would weight.
Appearance: Describe accordingly
Personality: How your pet acts to people, around people, around you. Anythiing. Aggressive? Passive?
Rank: All pets start out as Academy Students regardless of the RPC's rank.
Fighting type: Genjutsu, Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or 2 out of the 3.
Element: Only one. Same element options as an RPC.
Jutsus: See rules above
Handseals: What does your pet do to cast jutsu in place of handseals? N/A if the pet does not have jutsu or only has jutsu that do not use handseals.
Natural Traits: Mention as much as possible of your creature's natural traits that can be counted as strengths or weaknesses. If your animal has known natural weaknesses alongside strengths, please include them. One must take the good with the bad.
Specialties: The same as for RPCs.
