This is basically where I'm going to advertise the new things pertaining to the Sumiyori Clan.

Family Outline

The Sumiyori clan is spread out amongst the countries of Water and Frost. They descend from a Sati noble clan, the Minowara.
For the last two generations, the Sumiyori family have remained civilians for the most part, but the current generation has been encouraged to seek the path of the Shinobi, either by their elders or by the stirring of the very blood within their veins, the blood of an old Shinobi Clan.
Both males and females of the clan traditionally grow long hair, usually to the shoulder blades, although those males of the main family are required to grow their hair to waist length as a sign of their status.
Members of the Sumiyori clan have gem-like eyes, vibrant greens, blues, purples, reds, oranges and yellows that sparkle in the light, as well as either very dark or very light colored hair. Pale skin and slender physique are another physical aspect of the clan.
All members of the Sumiyori clan are raised with the belief that family matters above all else. A member of the Sumiyori clan will always treat a relative as a family member, regardless of differences, such as social status.
All members are equal within the family, barring the respect given to those higher in the clans hierarchy, such as the Clan Head or the Elder Council, neither of which are currently active. All disagreements within the clan are kept within the family, to all non-members they show only a united front.

The Minowara Clan was a prominent family within Sato during and after the Villages founding, however sometime during the reign of the Nidaime Ooikage the Clan was attacked by a rival family intent on removing them from power. The youngest members of the clan were secreted away to a village within the lands of Nagare while the older members fought their attackers.
No one knows exactly what happened, but when morning fell over the forests of Sato both clans were wiped out. For all intents and purposes the Minowara clan was dead, their holdings and wealth vanished.
The young Minowaras took the name Sumiyori as their own, after the elderly couple that helped smuggle them out of Sato and into Nagarian territory.
For about a generation the Sumiyori clan built up a merchant business and became quite affluent, the next generation having no knowledge of their Shinobi roots, due to the refugees fear that their enemies still lived.
The Minowara The Shinobi Ancestors

The Minowara clan was one of the founding families of Sato, having been a well established Shinobi clan before its creation.
The Minowara had a strong belief in symbolism and ritual, partially because their clans abilities and techniques often required such things. Most of the Minowara had an affinity with one of two animals, either serpents or birds of prey, and it is from this affinity that the clans techniques come from.
Though currently few, if any, people know the secrets or abilities the Minowara had, it is commonly accepted that they often embodied the predators they had chosen as their symbols
The Minowara compound was set away from Sato proper, out in the forests that cover much of the island. A large number of houses filled the walled compound, enough to almost be its own small village, at the back of the compound there was a large lake, but it was the central building that was of the most importance to the clan, for it was where their rituals took place, the rites of passage and passing down of family techniques.
This building is made of dark stone, a stark contrast to the traditional style buildings around it. It is square and two stories high above ground, with numerous passages and rooms underneath the earth.
One room in this labyrinth is more important than any other, for it is where the correct ceremonies of the clan took place. The room is square, with a foot high pedestal made of the same dark stone as the rest of the structure. The pedestal has an indent on its surface, making a shallow bowl. The walls of the room are sheathed in different stone, only slight variations in the shade of the rock revealing the differences.
More info on the customs of the clan, little habits that I'm slowly developing for them. I will update this post as I add to them. Bold will be the action, normal text the meaning behind it. Positive actions will have the bolded text colored in dark blue, negative will be dark red and neutral will remain black. Phrases are in purple
CUSTOMS OF THE SUMIYORI CLAN
The Sumiyori clan have a myriad of subtle customs and gestures that are used to comminicate with each other and with those who understand. These gestures are remanents of the Minowara and are not well known
-The first two fingers on the left hand placed on another's forehead and then run down to their mouth before being brought to the Sumiyori's own lips - This gesture came about with the invention of the clan jutsu Hebi no Shita, and was originally meant for the user of the jutsu to embed the other's taste signature into their memory.
It is used towards people that are not too familiar with the Sumiyori. It is an acknowledgement, both of the other person and of the possiblility of a bond between them.
-A light kiss on the forehead - A more intimate version of the gesture above. It is used for close friends and family members.
As with before, it originated from the creation of Hebi no Shita for the user to memorise the taste signature of the other.
-Placing the blood of another into the Sumiyori's mouth - This is the negative version of the above gesture, it indicates a strong hatred for the other person, the declaration of a blood feud between the two. This is very rarely done.

-Holding the clench right hand over the heart, followed by a horizontal sweeping motion of the right hand to the right with the palm facing upward, bowing slightly forward with eyes locked on the eyes of another - This is a gesture that means "challenge noticed and accepted" and is often used before beginning a formal fight, although any battle, whether physical or otherwise, is still appropriate.
-"By blood and breath and bone" - this is the stongest oath a Sumiyori will ever utter, any promise made under this oath will always be fulfilled to its utmost.
The meaning is simple, it is "may my blood boil, my breath stop and my bones shatter should I break this vow"
-"By the Void" this is a common exclamation, usually used as a curse word, or in situations of shock. It stems back to an old belief system of the clan, in which the void is the source of creation.
-Clan Medallions: These are small metal renderings of the clan symbol, the serpent devouring its own tail surrounding a hawk. They generally have a length of leather tied to the top to serve as a necklace.
Clan members give these medallions to people they determine to be worthy of being considered friends of the clan, and as such bearers of these medallions are well received by Sumiyori. A precaution to avoid them simply being stolen is that a message is passed to all clan members when one of these medallions is given out, informing them that there is a new clan friend.
Personality: Takeru is a friendly young man, mostly cheerful, and happy to help out his kin. He's a bit of a brat to people outside of his clan, and that sometimes shows through with his interactions with his family. Takeru does have the ability to act dignified and collected, but he generally prefers not to, choosing instead to act like a rogue.
That said, Takeru is an excellent example of the Sumiyori's predatory nature, well versed in tracking down his target unseen, and striking hard and fast when the opportunity presents itself.

Requirements: Liquid Poison, bladed weapon.
Description: Through handseals, the user immerses his bladed weapon with Dokuton chakra. As a result, at the user's will, the chakra can turn into his poison of choice and infect the opponent upon contact with their open wounds. Unlike normal dipping, this jutsu allows the blade to hide any evidence of poison and is more efficient.

Description: User makes a tight fist pushing out the knuckle on his middle finger. The idea is to concentrate the area of the attack into a smaller area causing more intense pain from the strike.

Description: The user whispers a maximum of ten words and uses fuuton chakra to carry those words to someone. The slight breeze will head the target's way, and when it reaches them, will deliver the message in a voice only audible to the target.

Description: The user uses chakra to alter his larynx and vocal tract to change the way his voice sounds. This can be used to make the user sound like an animal, an adult, of the opposite sex, etc. This ability requires neither chakra nor hand seals.

Requirements: Two Kodachi or other mid-length swords
Description: The user throws both kodachi at the opponent, hitting the end of the first one with the second one for an extra boost. The second kodachi is hidden directly behind the first, so the opponent would only see one kodachi heading for them in their line of sight.

Requirements: Kinobori.
Description: The user concentrates wind chakra to their feet. With this, every time they step, a slight amount of chakra is let out into the air, causing it to absorb the sound, silencing the person's steps. This is still only from the impact of feet with ground, so if they step on a twig, the cracking could still be heard, or if they step on a board that creaks. However, they could run through a hall way at full speed using this jutsu and not be heard.
-Shunshin no Jutsu [Body Flicker Technique]

Description: Through one handseal, the user will be able to disappear from their previous position and reappear elsewhere. The distance they reappear to depend on the amount of chakra they choose to use, though they must travel more than 2 miles, and know exactly where they are going. This jutsu is only to be used outside of a battle, or to leave a thread entirely. This jutsu is only to be used outside of a battle, meaning you can't start a battle with it either. Also, the user is merely traveling quickly, not teleporting, so it can't be used to escape when they are tied up or locked up.
Note: Small aesthetic variations to this jutsu can be made without any custom applications, so long as the variations have no effect on battle.

Description: To perform this technique, the user must have two blades in their hands. The user can then use these blades to stab, slice, or even impale their target in the movements similar to that of dancing. With quick movements and fast jabs, this is a formidable dance.

Description: A taijutsu technique where the user spins with all of their strength and delivers a powerful, spinning, heel kick, blasting their opponent back. This kick can also be used to disarm an opponent since this kick is powerful enough to easily knock a weapon out of the opponent's hand. It is a much stronger version of the Konoha Daisenpuu [Leaf Great Whirlwind]
-Fuuton: Kaze Ba-suto [Wind Release: Wind Burst]

Description: This technique isn't so much as levitation, as it is granting the user the ability to seemingly jump while still in the air. Concentrating energy into the feet, the user must create small air bubbles which when bursting will push the feet up causing bursts of movement. Of course, other strong winds can cause the user to go in different directions from what was intended.

Requirements: Any kind of metal-made weapons.
Description: The weapon of the user attracts wind, giving it a wind layer. This layer of wind makes the weapon much sharper, as becomes rapidly evident by the fact that it can even leave cuts on weapons that are labeled indestructible or unbreakable. This technique does not require hand seals.

-Meisai Gakure no Jutsu [Hiding Camouflage Technique]

Requirements: None.
Description: This jutsu renders the user invisible to the naked eye, and can deplete their smell. However, special bloodline techniques or abilities are able to detect the user performing this jutsu.
Background: Takeru is the son of Sumiyori Makoto, and was born in Nagare like his father, and his grandfather. Takeru showed an interest in the Shinobi arts, which came as no surprise to his family as most of his cousins showed a similar interest, as well as his younger sister Yuna.
To this end, the Nagarean branch of the clan chose to hire a tutor, who began teaching the youngest generation how to be Shinobi to prepare them to enter TSU. Makoto was one of the Sumiyori who answered Hideaki's call for clansmen to move to the rediscovered clan compound in Sato, and so Takeru was taken with his father to live in Sato.
Upon arriving and finding that the clan heir, Sumiyori Hikaru was already a Genin at age 12, Takeru insisted he was ready to enter TSU and take up his place as a new Shinobi of the clan. Takeru proved adept at the shinobi arts and after a few short years as a Genin was promoted to Chuunin. He's known as one of the Sumiyori's better trackers and has proved his predatory skills over many missions
Personality: Kaworu is everything you would expect from a noble, dignified, reserved and serious. He's not very social, and prefers to spend time with his single friend than large groups of people.
To his clan he's just a quiet person, present, but feeling little need to make his presence felt. To outsiders, he is distant and as cold as the ice of Hyouga.

Main/Favored Weapon: Orbs of Amida
Three crystal orbs the size of apples. The orbs of Amida float around Kaworu's head when not in use. Nearly indestructable, he can hurl the heavy crystals at his enemies with a gesture of his hands, up to 40 feet away, before they return to him. The orbs also serve as a handseal alternative, whizzing in front of him to form patterns before a jutsu is activated.

Description: The user is able to see light without it being bent by water. This allows them to see through a mist, or to the bottom of a pond.

Description: A fairly simple water manipulation jutsu, this technique provides the ability to breathe underwater for a maximum of fifteen minutes. This ability doesn't require the use of handseals.
-Kasumi Jusha no Jutsu [Mist Servant Technique

Description: The user can creates clones of themselves much like bunshin no jutsu. However, when hit by an attack, rather then puffing away, they act as if they were made of a blackish oil-like liquid, repairing themselves even if fully destroyed. They are able to imitate attacks, though they are only illusions and can€™t actually affect their surroundings, and are often used to hide projectiles of the user amongst their own. The user can create far more clones with this then using bunshin no jutsu, able to create over a dozen clones at once even as an Academy Student, and the average Chuunin can create hundreds at once, filling up an entire battlefield with them.

Meaning, that this jutsu is needed to speak to any species of animal/insect/reptile, that is different from the user. This is commonly used for pets to better to communicate.

-Konoha Reppuu [Leaf Violent Wind]

Requirements: None.
Description: This is a very simple, yet effective technique, which can be used for anybody who comes charging with a direct attack. Using his leg, the shinobi swipes the attacker's feet off the ground by moving his dominant leg across the opponent's feet, tripping him. This sends the opponent flying away from the defender in an awkward position, and probably smashing into another object such as a tree.

Requirements: None.
Description: This is generally used in combination with taijutsu, though an experienced user can combined it with projectiles, or even ninjutsu. The user projects after-images onto objects of their choice, showing to the opponent where the object in question will be a fraction of a second later, or if the user so wishes, the path the object will be taken for the next second or so. Due to the need for the user to know ahead of time where the object will be, many users prefer to stick to showing €œpre-images€ of their own bodies. Of course, as this is merely an illusion, it has no effect on reality. Meaning, that there is nothing restricting the user from moving in a different manner from what the €œpre-images€ are showing to the target. What this allows for the user is to initially show the target the correct future, and once the target believes themselves to actually be able to partially predict the future, land some surprise attacks.

Description: When a weapon of a mist servant hits the opponent, it creates a sense of pain, as it the opponent was hit by a real weapon. However, it does not actually cause physical damage.

Description: A ninjutsu technique that covers the area surrounding the user completely in mist. Once used, there's practically no visibility within the area of this jutsu for both the user and their enemy. This is a perfect situation for someone who trains in the art of silent killing.

Description: The user forms a few handseals then puts both hands on the ground. This causes thick conical icebergs to come from the ground, thereby trapping or impaling an opponent. This jutsu may also be used as defense making the ice come out in front of them to stop frontal attacks they may not be able to dodge.

Description: This technique is an enhancer. The user pumps chakra into their muscles to allow for a heightened burst of speed and they also use their chakra to enhance their visual awareness, making it sharper and more effective.

Description: This genjutsu only works while being attacked by an opponent with something deadly. The genjutsu uses the last attack and creates am image where the user fails to finish creating a jutsu in time making the attack look like a success and completely killing the user. The whole illusion is made to lure the opponent into a false sense of security for a sneak attack, or to make a hasty retreat if necessary.

Description: After performing several hand seals, the user then slaps the ground heavily with his bare palm. In a very accelerating movement, the entire surrounding, not only land, freezes over. Turning the entire place into a frozen hell in a very large diameter. The air will be light and thin, the ground and water will be frozen solid and the sky will turn cloudy. Maintenance for this jutsu is considered high for it's rank.

- Hyouton: Idaina Keibitai - Gurando Keimusho [Ice Release: Mighty Guard - Grand prison]

Requirements: Suiton and Hyouton Elements.
Description: It will begin by creating a giant ice barrier, which will surround the user, or desired target. For the mighty guard technique, the user will then summon a water barrier in beneath the ice barrier. The two will act in a cycle feeding off the other. as the ice is chipped away, water will fill in through the cracks, and re form into ice, at a high speed, and keep the barrier strong, not allowing any attacks in. As well, the ice barrier can send spikes from the outer walls, and reform from the water, for those who venture to close, or can fire them, for those who stay back.
The grand prison technique is almost the exact opposite in theory. Instead of place the water barrier beneath the ice, it surrounds the outer layer of the barrier, and thus keeping the target inside. As well, spikes can form from the ice wall, or fire from the ice wall, and pierce the target within. Both techniques are very strong, and only the strongest of attacks can actually penetrate and destroy the barrier itself. This technique is also one which is very draining in chakra, and only those with a great amount of chakra, and chakra control, can use this technique more than once, with minimal consequences on the body.
Background: Kaworu was born in Hyouga, and is Grandson of Sumiyori Yuuta, who is the elder of Hyouga. Kaworu was always a calm and even tempered child, inquisitive and intelligent he soon became fascinated with the Shinobi way of his clan. Being given the equally intelligent hawk Tetsu-ko, Kaworu would prove himself a shinobi that lived up to his clan's elegance, and as a true scion of the Sumiyori, he eventually proved himself as a Jounin of Hyouga, becoming the pre-eminant representative of his clan within the village of the Glacier

The Sumiyori clan have two secret fighting styles, used only by those deemed strong enough in mind, body, and spirit, by the leaders of the clan. These fighting styles were considered lost until recently, when the scrolls detailing their use were uncovered.
Mekura Tachii: Kencho Shuuketsu Kamae, known as ‘The Centre of the Void’, is one of two fighting styles created by the Minowara clan in their ancient past. Mekura Tachii is an elegant fighting form that embodies the principle ‘Through deception, One will be able to succeed’. Through rigorous training and intense chakra control, the user is able to control their muscles to such a degree that their opponent cannot notice any movement before they strike, a vital skill to have in close range combat as these muscle signs are a prewarning that allows counter attacks or defences to be used to their fullest.
Skill Levels
A novice of the style (usually Genin) is able to disguise most of the signals, but doing so requires some concentration, making it a difficult to fully disguise their motions and a little harder to perform other actions beyond taijutsu while using the technique
A practitioner of the art (generally Chuunin-Jounin) is able to fully disguise their motions, and is far more comfortable with using the style, which requires only the normal amount of concentration used in fighting.
An adept (generally Jounin) is not only fully comfortable with the style, but is able to give off false signals to trick their opponent into thinking that they are about to perform an attack that will not come.
A master of Mekura Tachii (Jounin+) is an uncommon occurance. A master is so skilled in the style that they are able to give off multiple false signals, and generally even their normal motions are difficult to predict without their express concentration, the style becoming so ingrained into their body that only through conscious control can they move normally. Of course, at this point even that is easy for them.
The Style
Mekura Tachii is elegant in its own way, but it is, primarily, chaotic, simply because its motions are hard to read, and it is designed to be infinitely changing. Unlike most styles where practitioners perfect sets of motions, aiming for the perfect response to the perfect situation, Mekura Tachii aims for perfection in the singular. Each strike must preformed perfectly, when used alone there must be no fault. Each move is designed to swiftly change to another move, so instead of a logical set of attacks based on balance and position, the practitioner can string together any attacks as each is meant to be compatible with all the others.
This is only possible due to the extreme muscle control that a Mekura Tachii practitioner must gain in order to use the style, as generally, logical combinations occur simply through convenience of position and balance.
The basic stance of Mekura Tachii is standing on the balls of the feet, feet about shoulder width apart, right hand low and leading, left hand held stomach height and fingers curled slightly. This however is simply an aid for novices, and by the time they can be considered practitioners they usually have developed their own stance. A master of the form is able to have no stance, being able to strike perfectly without readying themselves.
Practitioners of Mekura Tachii tend to favour dual weapons, one for each hand, as it allows them to make the most of the style’s elegantly chaotic movements. Polearms are another common weapon, as they also have the potential to strike from either end.

Not sure how acceptable it would be if the Kage's clan started causing trouble, perhaps except for Hitsumi who is already causing trouble around the world :P
