Hyougagakure's Village Report
Leader: The Hyougaan Council.
Important People: Akira Haruko, Hanako Hayato, Omoide Tenko, Ando Akira.
Important Clans: Hyoujun clan, Haruko clan, Hanako clan, Omoide Clan.
Description:
'Only beauty exists within the ice-cold lands of the Hyouga. The appearance of the Shinobi of the Glacier are too beautiful to explain, but beyond the warming smile is an ice-cold heart, willing to lure and decieve anyone who stands in their way.' (Aisukage)
Relationships: Hyouga, being secluded doesn't venture often to seek allies, and being in a snowy plain, that none of the other villages can seem to adapt to, always puts them at an advantage on the homefront. Hyouga though had become an ally of Nagare after the last war and had developed a 'dislike' towards the Sati-Konoi alliance, all the while it remained neutral towards Rikuhi. With the destruction of Hyouga during the demonic Apocalypse, Hyouga has since re-evaluated its views, joining Sato in an new founded alliance.
Leader Building: Aisukage's Mansion.
Standard of Living: High, mansions are abundant. A large section of the village previously known as the fabled 'red light district' has been remolded and designed in the image of modern day casinos. Gambling, flashing neon lights and dance clubs. Even with the cold, the idea of 'fun' is preached.
Language: Hyougaan.
Weather: Snowy and cold most of the year with severe snowstorms in the winter. Every once in a while a bit of the snow melts in the villages areas of lower altitude for a few weeks, revealing beautiful meadows that stay hidden under the white most of the year.
Terrain: One of the main reasons Hyouga has stayed out of conflict is the chains of mountains that surround the snowy paradise. Hundreds of miles of white capped peaks and jagged frozen wastelands line the path to Hyouga. It is very difficult for even the most well prepared to enter due to the extremely freezing weather and lack of protection from the elements. Many a travelers have been found frozen to death along the path, their frost cemented corpses a small lump in the snowdrifts. The actual city of Hyouga is completely surrounded by mountains, though the small valley that shelters the village has beautiful rolling hills and fields, much like Nagare. The mountains shelter the village within from the blunt of the large storms giving it an everlasting peaceful appearance.
Wildlife: Plentiful Aerial wildlife, while forestry creatures are sparse due to the harsh climates. There are a few scarce flocks of bighorn sheep, as well as many snow rabbits, foxes and deer. In higher altitudes along the mountain range, there is fabled to be extraordinary felines and canines dwelling in the caves, particularly large wolves. Also bears, lots of them.
Special:
- Frigid Rock Shields - The icy mountains encircling the village make it near impossible for a large scale attack on Hyouga.
- Ice Sheet - Directly under the village, a thick sheet of ice and layers of permafrost feeds and filters massive fresh water reservoirs under the village. This however not only is used as water source, but a decent defense. Chilled water can be pulled up from these reservoirs within the village, carefully molded by a squad of skilled Hyouton and suiton users to create defensive walls, spikes and barriers of ice and water.
Other Notes: History: After the Apocalypse a small band of aristocrats ventured away from the destruction in order to find their own little piece of paradise. They walked for months across the deserts and wastelands of Eastern Seichi until they eventually reached the large mountains that ran in the median of the continent. Many died on the crossing from the cold and eventually the remaining Hyougaans decided to simply stay in the mountains rather than risk climbing down the frigid eastern side.
Unlike the founders of the other hidden villages, Hyouga had no desire for conquest, trade, or even friendship. The beautiful wealthy recluses of Hyouga slid into their hidden paradise, allowing the climate to take care of any marauders and unwanted visitors.
The small village grew slowly as there was little immigration for obvious reasons. The village was run by a council of elders for a long while, but as conflict and war began to loom on the horizon a need for a single leader began to arise. The Elders had begun to use small, though very elite, units of shinobi and, after a series of close defeats during the Second Shinobi War, quickly developed an even more prestigious unit with the sole purpose of finding this "great shadow of protection".
The villages main candidate for Aisukage died suddenly from disease and the village, weakened by conflict and confusion seemed doomed. Soon the man's wife Ashe Shiva took on her husband's will and quickly developed the skills necessary to bring the village out of recession. Through her guidance it has turned into a very productive and wealthy artisan village with a rather powerful military. For the moment, Hyouga remains neutral to all things. Any alliances forged with previous regions lost in the great demon invasion.
