    Default The Prison of Silence

The Silence Prison was one of the most formidable structures the desolate land had to offer. Three stories high, not counting the basement, and housing hundreds of criminals so nasty that even Neo Horizon couldn’t allow them to walk free.

Among those many prisoners was Gai Gardener. Formerly, Gardener had been Neo Horizon’s equivalent to an ANBU captain. But, that had all changed after his attempt on the life of Mr. Lex Luthor. Now, he was locked up among the filth, many of whom he had locked up personally.

The prison had a very regimented life. Prisoners were awoken at 7 AM sharp, at which point they had breakfast until 8 AM.

After breakfast, they were returned to their cells until their lunch at noon. At 1 PM, when lunch ended, they were allowed to roam the yard for a while, where they could get their daily exercise and recreation time. This lasted for four hours, until their dinner at 5 PM.

Then, when dinner ended at 6 PM, they were escorted back to their cells. Lights out started at 9 PM

Gai’s cell was no different than any of the other cells. It had a stone slab for a bad, firmly attached to the floor. There was a grungy toilet with no actual privacy to it, and a lackluster sink in which he could wash his hands.

He had been stripped of his own clothing and instead given a bright orange jumpsuit. The only personal effect he had in his cell was a small tin cup, standard issue to the prison. Prisoners kept their sanity by dragging the cup across the bars.

Around his neck, Gai wore the bane of each prisoner’s existence- a chakra nullifier. He was little more than a genin who knew lots of jutsu with the nullifier on. Though, there was a chance he could still use some of his more advanced jutsu, due to the insane amount of training he had put into them.

Somehow, Gai had to escape this prison. He had a mission to accomplish still…

    To be continued…

'I have an agenda.' She thought to herself. 'I wasn't too interested in who were the worst of the criminals...or rather what kind of people would be stupid enough to throw a second chance away like this. Gardener... I've heard that name before... It's a big name for certain: I hear his name almost every where I go in Horizon. It'd be nice to have someone powerful on my side. Or a couple of people at that.' Kako had already spent a day studying this place. She didn't have the patience to draw this whole operation out over the months she had planned to. She wasn't the kind of person that enjoyed doing things so subtly. This weeks food shipment was heading towards the gates. Little did anyone know, so was Kako. To be precise she was using kinobori to glue her entire figure to the bottom of the cart. There was a back up plan to this in case the guards decided to check underneath for any persons...She looked at the numerous explosive tags she had rigged all across the cart. She sincerely hoped she didn't end up having to use them...it would make things a bit more complicated than she was hoping for.

Gai waws enjoying a particularly crappy breakfast as the shipment would be arriving. It was nothing to shout about, just some serial with some cheap milk. If one had to describe the cereal, it would resemble a Cheerio.

Before adding the milk, he took three of these cereal pieces and set them under his bowl. Once he was done eating, he slipped the last three under his tongue before he would be escorted back to his cell. He maintained a hold on his small tin cup for the time being. It was the only possession he had in the whole world at the moment.

The cart reached the gate with no problems, except maybe a few bumps from a couple of jutting rocks, but nothing worth stopping for. Now the cart stopped for it's customary inspection to be sure nothing was going wrong with it. The two doing the inspection were two B-ranked shinobi, the standard cannon fodder guards of Silence's prison.

The two approached the cart and began looking through tarps and boxes, even those logically too small to house a hitchhiker. "Nothing over here," one of them shouted to the other, whom simply shrugged. After another couple of minutes, they gave the driver the go-ahead and let them move on toward the main facility. It'd be another five minutes or so before the coach would be stopping to unload.

    ****

Gai's escort was a little bit more professional than the guards that were in charge of the exit. Namely, he was under the careful watch of two of Silence's Jounin. Neither one of them spoke a word as the escorted the infamous missing-nin back to his holding cell, and didn't even bother to check for misplaced cereal or remove his tin cup. After all, there was no way Gai Gardener could escape from two jounin with only a tin cup.

When they reached his cell, they would roughly push him back into his cozy abode and slam the cell shut again, finishing with a loud locking mechanism. With Gardener safely in his cell, assuming he didn't try to make a scene, one of the guards would patrol the remaining cells, leaving only one to stare blankly at Gai.

    He hated this job.

As Gai was shoved into his cell, he stumbled towards the wall. Rather intentionally, in fact. He sold it like they had pushed him harder than they had meant to, and put his hand up to block his face from hitting the wall.

As he did so, he quietly let the cheerios slip from his mouth to his hand, and then slipped them quietly in the tin cup. To the guard, it would just sound like the tin cup was rattling around, nothing unusual about that.

Now I just need to wait for an opportunity Gai thought to himself, sitting down in his cell and staring back at the guard. How are you tonight? The missing nin asked, a peculiar smile on his face. Only someone as disturbed as Gai could be content with prison life.

'I wasn't actually expecting make a break this lucky. Inside the prison? I admit there probably are easier ways to get inside of here...but...whatever. Since this is a food supply cart I don't think there will be that much surveillance on it. I probably can get out from here undetected...but then...I don't have much knowledge about the inside of this place. Tch. Time is running out.' Amongst the bustle of the people taking the food from the cart and storing it for later use, Kako snuck out from under the cart, henge'd in similar garb to one of these assistants and started helping them unload the cart. 'Certainly they might eventually notice me this way...but when something big happens...details tend to get forgotten.' At the next opportunity, Kako slipped out from this crowd and began to sneak around through the prison. She Henge'd into a guard and made a bunshin so that it looked like she was marching a prisoner off to somewhere. 'I never bothered learning Kassei...so that means that the cart will explode in (3 posts).'

'I wonder how long I can keep this charade up? It'll be hard to find out where my targets are without interracting with anyone after all. They might already be onto me...in fact I"m going to assume they are. This place is too big...' Kako looked at all the cells she was passing...It might be convenient if the guards had their hands full dealing with escapees, even inhibited as they were. She slapped a few explosive tags on a couple of cells she passed for good measure. 'These ones will explode in (1 post), Time to get out of here.'

The Jounin ignored Gai's attempts to be friendly, instead opting to simply watch the man behind the bars of the cell. After a few moments however, the boredom of guard life and the absolute excitement of staring at a psychopathic prisoner drew a response out of him at last. "Shut up, Gardener. The only reason I'm stuck here instead of the guard station is that you're a 'highly dangerous prisoner'."

With that said, the guard reached into one of his vest pockets and drew out a deck of playing cards. After a moment of staring at the boxes, the man decided they were far more interesting than Gai happened to be and began shuffling the deck.

    ****

The civilians working around the cart never even cast Kako a second glance. New people were coming in and out of this place all the time, after all, it wasn't everyone who wanted to work with Silence's worst. And that was saying something. The civilians were even oblivious to the discreetly placed tags covering the cart, score one for civilian stupidity.

One of the chuunin guards of the prison were patrolling the cell block Kako decided to sneak down. When he saw another person walking toward him from the opposite direction, bells went off in his head. At least he hadn't seen her place tags on a few of the cells. Even the jeers of the prisoners didn't seem out of place.

The man raised his hand in the air in a 'halt' position, "Hey, you. No one else is supposed to be in this cell block right now. What's your name?" he asked, a hand reaching down toward one of the kunai hanging off his belt. You can never be too careful in a prison, especially this prison.

Gai pondered for a moment at the guard's response, watching him begin shuffling the cards. He thought for a moment, and then finally decided on a new course of action. How about a friendly game? he asked, scooting closer to the bars.

If you win, I'll shut up. If I win, we keep talking. The missing nin eyed his guard closely as he waited for a response. Unless, of course, I am too dangerous to be trusted with a deck of cards...

"Figure that out by yourself." She told the guard, as a ninjutsu specialist it wasn't surprising that she could clap her hands together once and form the single seal necessary for her to produce a Katon: Housenka no jutsu. The Mythical Fire Flower sizzled the air on its way to the chuunin guard. Kako wasn't feeling like fighting this guy, or rather she couldn't afford to. It was a good thing she was henge'd otherwise he would know her true description and would probably cause more work for her. The Mythical Fire Flower was just something to get the chuunin out of the way. Of course she had shot to kill, but with the impending explosion... She charged forward and covered her ears as to protect them. The tags on the cells exploded and let the prisoners run free. 'They are all wearing chakra inhibitors...This is going to end up being more annoying than I thought originally. Only one person has the key stone to release the inhibitor on Gai...and the same for the others. I don't know if they even use the same key, or if they have them all in one location.'

'This is really obnoxious...' She did her best to avoid any other guards, but speed really was of the essence here. She was looking for a command post of some kind, of any kind really. She frowned and whipped out the dragon flute.

The jounin eyed Gai for a moment, his eyes becoming slits as he pondered the multiple things a shinobi could do with a simple deck of cards. After a moment, the guard pulled out another pack of card like objects, however, the back of each carried the kanji for "Explode." Apparently, they were impact tag-esque playing cards.

"Sure, Gardener. We'll play. Try anything and I'll blow you sky high, yeah?" he said before he shuffled the new deck of cards. After he was satisfied with the randomness of his deck, he pushed a small table up to the bars so Gai could reach it through the bars. "Game preference?" he asked as he place the card deck in the middle of the table. It was too bad they likely wouldn't get the chance to play as explosions rang out in the depths of the prison.

    ****

Now that just wasn't nice! But it did confirm that this wasn't a real guard of the facility. The chuunin dodged to the side of a rather large series of fireballs. The guard threw his kunai at one of the many fireballs to detonate it in midair, due to his inability to dodge it without being hit by the others. The explosion of the fire flower was drowned out by the multiple tags blowing the doors off of multiple cells however. This was not his day.

In a desperate attempt, the guard pulled out his radio to attempt and report to the rest of the guards that were on duty. "We have a security bree-" he managed to get out before being swarmed by several of the escapees. Despite his attempts to fight them off, there were simply too many for him to do more than flail about as the brutally beat him.

The message was simple enough to be understood by others. Several other guards, including a few jounin, were now heading into that sector to quell an apparent escape and riot. Kako would have to be careful if she wished to avoid them. The knowledge of her arrival would also become apparent once they found evidence of the tags. Things were going to become far more complicated.

Gai wondered if that was a strange bluff, or if the deck was actually a set of exploding tags. It didn't matter, however. A series of explosions could be heard in the distance. What's that? Gai asked, in response to the sound.

If he was lucky, his guard would rush to the sound of the blasts, and he would be able to grab that deck of playing cards. Otherwise, he would have to come up with a different contingency plan. It had just become obvious that his opportunity to escape had come. He held his tin cup tightly as he waited for the guard's response.

OOC: Oh, and because it's done now:

Kako quickly discovered that she had no idea where she was going. 'Gah...I"m going to have to take a gamble.' She complained to herself.
'Wish they had a map or something somewhere.' Since she was henge'd as a guard she tried to confront some of the other guards making their way towards the prison break; "Quickly! This is just a distraction! The Culprit is trying to bust out Gardener!" She yelled to the guards...it probably wasn't a very good idea, but at the least she would be able to follow them to the cell...hopefully. If her bluff was called she was about to get herself into a really hard place. That was for certain. 'This is really close...Come on...cross fingers...'

It wasn't going to be that easy for Gai to escape imprisonment. The Jounin grabbed hold of his exploding deck and slid it into his vest pocket again as the explosions still rang out through the prison. "Maybe next time, Gardener," he said before dashing off in the direction of the blasts, ninjato drawn already.

Perhaps guard duty wouldn't be so boring today. He hoped.

    ****

Five guards were heading toward Kiko, four chuunin and their leader was a jounin. Kiko's bluff seemed to work for a moment, at least, they didn't immediately start throwing explosives at her. The jounin took only a split second to decide a course of action. "You three," he said, pointing at three of his squadmates, "Stop that riot, kill them if necessary. The rest of you with me!"

The jounin and chuunin immediately turned on their heels and raced toward the cell block Gai was being held in. Things might get complicated should they cross paths with Gai's previously bored guard. The chuunin guards would be able to easily deal with the escapees thanks to the restraining collars so they too would be joining the scene after a time.

Kako had better have some fast talking planned, or something prepared that can take out four chuunin and two jounin.

As the guard turned and left, Gai moved his hands while his guard's back was turned. He shook the cup, which contained the cheerios, using it as a crude moracca. It would have to suffice for now.

Hoping his intense training would allow him an advantage over the stupid restraint collar, Gai attempted to use Terra Musica. And, much to his delight, it worked. The area shook as the guard ran away, enough to hopefully trip them up. The guard would have no idea that it had been Gai, but the missing nin could still hope the man would drop the exploding cards.

OOC: Alright then. We'll play off that Kako escaped or something, I'm not comfortable controlling another person's RPC throughout a mission. It can be assumed that she slipped away under the guise of a guard.

IC: The intense shaking in the cell block, along with it being completely unexpected, managed to make the guard stumble, but as fate would have it, it wasn't enough to shake the explosive cards from his vest pocket. Figuring it was a shake from a battle with inmates further within the prison, the guard ran off once regaining his footing.

The guard however, would be intercepted by the other Jounin and Chuunin. Thanks to Kako, however, Gai would now have two Jounin and a Chuunin to deal with in a few moments. That was a very bad situation. Things were not completely bleak for Gai however, as his Terra Musica managed to reveal a slight weakness in that particular cell.

The vibrations from Terra Musica managed to reveal that one of the bolts on the cell door was loose. With sufficient force, one could knock the door down. Even should this occur however, Gai's position in the prison left only one path for him to take unless he was capable of some incredible improvisation.

The prison of Silence was not about to be easily broken out of.

Gai made a note of the weakened bolt in his cell. It would undoubtedly be the best way for him to leave it without the constant watchful eyes of the guards upon him.

But, that was not the most helpful of his observations. Terra musica had worked! That meant that he could rely on techniques he had worked hard to become better with in order to escape the prison.

After thinking over his options, Gai compiled a small list. He knew he could use the cloud of doom, uta no aki, doll control (though he lacked a puppet), terra musica, the poisoned blade technique, voice manipulation, his basics (other than genjutsu release), possibly jurou senbon (though he lacked umbrellas), sneezing powder, poison spray and musical seals. It was only about half of his arsenal, but he'd have to take it.

With that in mind, he formed a plan quickly. He rushed the door hard, crashing into it. His great speed gave him sufficient impact for the door to break away under pressure from his charge.

The guards hadn't reentered the block just yet, so he had a bit of time. He shook his cup once, using Henge to assume the form of a guard he had seen earlier that day. The guard in question technically didn't start his next shift for another hour, at least by Gai's count, so it was pheasible he came in early with the low chance he would actually be present to thwart Gai's disquise.

Then, when the guards entered, Gai used Voice Manipulation to take on that particular guard's voice. He said, Gardener's Escaped! to the other guards s they entered. With any luck, they would believe his lie and he would be able to leave the cell block safely. If not, well, he would just need to improvise.

    "Gardener's escaped!"

The words echoed throughout the halls, above the shouts of the many prisoners that had been riled up by the explosions and violent shaking in the cell block. The guards arrived at Gai's henged form, the chuunin taking it upon himself to actually enter the cell over the broken cell door to investigate it.

The other guards were more apt in their search. One jounin immediately radioed for the other guards in the prison to search for Gai, while the other one took it upon himself to question Gai personally. "Your shift doesn't begin for another hour. What are you doing here? I was just here, there's no way Gardener could have left."

The guard's gaze hardened slightly as he looked over Gai's henged form, as if he was trying to see through the disguise. A crackle of an earpiece would be heard as the other chuunin in another cell block reported more break-outs thanks to Kako's explosives and that they were having difficulty quelling the riots. One of the Jounin nodded his head and immediately ran down the hall, leaving Gai with his previous guard and the chuunin.

"There's nothing in the cell, sir. Don't know how he managed to break his cell door." The chuunin reported, exiting the cell and standing behind Gai. "We're sorry, but we're going to need to test you. You understand of course," the jounin stated, his hand lowering to a short dagger like weapon on his belt.

"What's your name and the security number for the guard station?" he asked. While Gai would likely not know the guard's name, it was possible he'd overheard it over it in conversation. The security number, on the other hand, was a trick question - there was none for a simple guard station.

I wanted to get here early, talk to the warden about my shift Gai lied, his impersonation of the guard perfectly flawless. He watched as one of the guards moved to investigate other break outs.

The name and station number were quite easy for Gai. After all, the name wasn't hard to get, and he had helped build the prison when he built Neo horizon. So, both answeres were quite elementary. My name is Ondego Montoya he said, And we don't bother with security numbers on guard stations. I have no idea how he escaped or where he went, but an empty cell doesn't lie.

Hopefully, his answer was satisfactory enough he'd be able to leave with the rest of the guard unit and slip out. He would need to either break into the warden's office or take out the captain of the guard to remove his collar, and he would need to retake his weapons from the lockers in the basement.

Oh, and he fully intended to spring the other prisoners too. But, they were currently in lock down, he was sure, so that wasn't all going to be so easy.
