Glad to see her technique had worked, she leaped over to the other wall, making sure her connection to the wall would reinitialize when she landed on the other side. Rikku headed to where Yakuza and Eriu were currently, knowing full well her technique wouldn't hold the ordinarily rampaging beast forever. They'd have to kill it now, or at least soon.

She was worried, however, that Yakuza wouldn't be able to hold on to Eriu for very long, but maybe the kid had more muscle on him than she gave him credit. Although, she'd rather not test things either way. Still, they were busy, leaving the beast to be dealt with, so as she closed in on the two as they held on to the wall, she'd kneel down to see how they were doing, whispering to them as she knelt down.

"How are you guys holding up?"

She'd wait on their reply, and if they seemed to be doing well on their own, she'd leave them for now and eliminate their beastly companion. After all, it was completely immobile, finishing it off wouldn't be a problem. However, if Yakuza needed a hand she'd take over holding on to Eriu, and allow Yakuza to take care of the creature. That or, they'd make a beeline for the other end, where supposed safety awaited them.

ooc: I feel like I have to skip everyone at some point... Edit: Am I missing something here?

The beast staggered away flailing from the attacks that had crippled it. Tei's wire ploy payed off, allowing allowing Eriu to safely swing to the wall. His back muscles strained as she hung against the wall, searching for a safe place to grab on to. The next few moments felt like years, as he felt the massive strain on his arms, back, and legs build to unimaginable levels. Fang scrambled out of his jacket and onto his back, trying to find a safer area, making it even harder to continue holding her up. "Hurry up! I can't hold on much longer."

"How are you guys holding up?"

Tei glanced upwards at the kneeling Bakuto, and grunted. "I'm certainly holding up. But I'm..." The wire was cutting into his hands, leaving painful welts, and worse, he felt his concentration begin to slip. If the pain was too much, he'd find himself unable to even use Kinobori to hold himself up, let alone the two of them. "If you don't mind, would you grab this? I don't think I can hold her up for very long," he grunted as he tried to move the wire towards her. When Bakuto grabbed it, he straightened up, feeling the pain all over his body gradually subside. He disconnected the last bit of the wire from his grappling hook and then faced the disabled chimera. "I'll just take care of this thing..."

Two more exploding kunai would be enough to end it, or so he hoped. A flick of the wrist, and a burst of propulsion from manipulate advancing blades sent the knives whizzing towards the beasts head.
The twin blasts from blades embedded into its skull would hopefully be enough to destroy its brain and kill it, ending the threat to the team. If the beast did go down, Tei would glance over at Mishio, and see that he seemed to be having no troubles dispatching his own Chimera. We better find a way out of here, he called over the connection, and began to make his way towards the northward exit.

Mishio probably should have taken the kill when he had the chance, for things were about to get quite hazardous for him. Once Mishio jumped off, the beast stood back up and arched its back towards the shinobi. Many of the hairs on its back hardened and quickly extended themselves forward. Being blind, it couldn't aim very well and could only know his general direction, so none of the hairs would pierce Mishio assuming he stayed still, but instead imbed themselves in the wall around him. This new obstacle would make his throw require that much more precision. More than Mishio had in stock. To make matters worse, it was beginning a new attack. As its mouth opened, some of the molten iron from the floor began to flow up its legs and form a sphere in the open mouth. Once of sufficient mass, that sphere would be fired in Mishio's direction. Accuracy didn't matter much for this technique either, as it had a rather large splash radius. The attack was slow, though, taking a full five seconds to fire, giving Mishio ample time to devise an escape plan.

Eiru could have made it with a repel propelled burst, but it would have been only just barely, and even then it may miss. Hitting hazardous terrain was simply too great a risk, so she took the safer route and latched onto Tei's wires. With Rikku's assistance, the three would easily manage to get Eiru back to safety allowing Tei to eliminate the beast. The two kunai would pierce through the skull and the explosions ensured that the majority of its upper body would be scattered about.

As Tei looked back over to Mishio, he would not see the scene he had hoped, and would instead gaze upon the dire turn of events that had just occurred.

Even though Mishio thought his decision not to go in for the kill immediately had been a sound one, he was quickly proven otherwise as the chimera started using techniques and abilities that the jonin hadn’t known it possessed. First, the beast’s hairs hardened, and extended. It looked similar to a ninjtusu, though not one Mishio was familiar with. One thing he did know though; he didn’t want to stay in the general direction those spikes were pointing; who knew what they would do if they did. Though he wasn’t familiar with this technique, Mishio already had a standard doctrine for escaping ninjutsu he couldn’t stop from occurring; get out of the way. Instead of throwing his sword as he originally planned, Mishio “grabbed” onto the side of the wall with Kinobori and quickly ran up it. Below him, the Chimera’s hair suddenly fired off a burst of needle-like projectiles. Even though they were badly aimed, and probably wouldn’t have hit Mishio even if he stayed still, it wasn’t wasted effort on his part; the jonin was already ready and moving for the chimera’s follow up.

The next attack seemed to be even more ninjutsu-like then the first; gathering some of the molten metal-stuff in the shape of a ball, reminding Mishio a little too keenly of the “laser” ninjutsu he’d seen a demon use back when he was a chunin. However, he had no intention of just letting the beast fire off his attack. Once again, he used Falcon Drive. Even though he wasn’t using a Flash-Sting this time, he figured the beast was too busy setting up his attack to be able to counter it. As much as he didn’t like repeating techniques, his options were limited as long as he couldn’t use the floor, and it was uniquely suited for stopping this attack; instead of just striking the beast in the back of the head again, Mishio used Repel if/when the kick landed, hoping to utilize it’s pushing power to knock the beast into the “floor” face first.

The exchange went pretty smoothly; although, she really preferred being in a situation where she could be much more useful. From her place on the wall, she could hear the sounds of combat. Explosions from down below. Had that attack been successful? Craning her neck as best she could, Ériu caught a glimpse of the mutilated ape monster and felt her stomach churn violently. Her eyes snapped shut as she tried to calm the trembling contents of her stomach. It occurred to her then that she couldn't keep hanging there, especially since she was already injured and losing energy. She was sure Bakuto-san wasn't going to put up with simply holding onto a helpless genin anyway.

"The exit. Get me to solid ground, and I can help. Please!" The grip she had on the wire tightened ever further, preparing for the journey if Rikku heeded her request.

Tei nodded, satisfied with the results. That was more effective that I hoped. Bakuto didn't seem to have any issues holding Eriu up, though Eriu seemed to be weakening rapidly. Hopefully they'd make their way towards the exit.

Looking Mishio's way, he saw the other chimera acting... quite a few levels higher than the other one. The wall was already covered with dozens, if not hundreds, of senbon-like hair. Misho seemed to be relatively unharmed by that attack, but the beast had already moved on to its next one, some sort of lava manipulation jutsu. As he watched on, the lava gathered into a massive ball the purpose of which was not hard to divine. Mishio propelled himself off of the wall. He can probably make his way back to the wall even without my help, but just in case...

It was too far for him to use wires, so he pulled out his the scroll sealing his puppets and unsealed one of the Bombard Attack Probes and launched it towards the beast, peppering it with senbon as it flew. It wasn't particularly fast, but hopefully it would make it to Mishio in time for him to use as an additional platform between the wall and the beast. Though it wouldn't be able to hold his full weight, pushing off of it would probably be enough for him to get whereever he needed to.

((OOC: Sorry about the wait everyone. Been really busy lately, and it seems like whenever I'd try to finish a post here something would come up. BUT NOT THIS TIME.))

Rikku pulled the girl up, or would at least try to, seeing as it seemed silly to hold on to her by the cable that she was clutching to. She'd offer the young genin a hand so as to create a better grip before moving. If allowed, she'd put Eriu over her back and would then move towards the safe ground she was indicating over near the exit. Eriu's words were somewhat unneeded, as for the most part Rikku never intended to just sit there holding the young genin, but she didn't realize the girl was ready to help again just yet.

After setting Eriu down, she'd look back to see how Mishio was doing, and it seemed he was fairing a might less favorably than the rest of them had. Hopefully Tei could give the needed assistance that Mishio sought, or Mishio could just finish it off like he should have at first. Either way, Rikku would hop onto the safe-point that Eriu was now standing on, and watching things as they'd transpire. Afterall, her just running in there, cards a-flailing, genjutsu a-flying, wouldn't really help anyone by making it more confusing.

Mishio was quick enough to dodge the first spiky hair attack and launch one of his own. The beast didn't know it hadn't hit with the first strike and just continued on with its molten attack. However, it was preempted by Mishio's Falcon Drive, which knocked its head face first into the floor. This caused the attack to go off prematurely. That close to the surface, the results would be quite a pain. The molten iron flew everywhere, to all corners of the room. Those far enough away would likely not get splashed with any, but Mishio himself, or any near him, would have quite the problem to deal with.

Once, and if, everyone got to safety, they would realize their immediate problem was over. Apparently the insides of these things aren't as flame retardant as the outside. The creature lay on it's back seemingly in a state of great agony as it burned from the inside out.

There was now only one path to take, the stairs back upwards. They would lead back into the room above with the flickering lights. This time, however, they were on the wall adjacent to the second set of stairs that went down, as opposed to opposite it like the first time.

When Mishio had attacked, he'd been counting on his preemptive strike to short-circuit the chimera's attack, preventing it from even occurring. However, he'd been too late to prevent that; the jutsu had nearly been ready when he struck, so instead of stopping, it went off at nearly point blank range. In all likelyhood, it would have killed him if it had gone off the way the chimera had intended.

As it was, the chimera's large head blocked the portion of the blast directly below Mishio's feet, and prevented it from hitting the very center of his body, which probably saved his life. In addition, the force of the blow jolted Mishio forward, causing him to take several steps down the chimera's back, away from the epicenter of the blast. However, he was simply to close to escape unscathed; some of the molten metal splashed onto the arms and back of his jacket, something the jonin noticed almost immediately (with distress).

In an attempt to minimize the damage, he shrugged his shoulders and pulled the jacket off as quickly as he could, touching the effected portions as little as possible, and clenching his teeth to prevent any sound from escaping his lips. He was not going to scream darn it. He wasn't sure if the blast had been enough to incapacitate the chimera (for caution's sake, he assumed it wasn't), and he knew he was too distracted to fight, so he then jumped of the chimera's back and back onto the wall using Kinobori. If the chimera didn't look like it was recovering and preparing to attack again, he'd take a moment to inspect his now-ruined jacket, and take an inventory of his injuries. If the chimera got back up and resumed the fight, he'd react accordingly, and the rest of this post can be ignored.

The back and arms that had been hit by the molten metal were hot and quickly getting hotter, as heat was being transferred from the molten metal to the jacket itself. The inside was turning charcoal black even as he watched. He was sure the black t-shirt he wore under the jacket had been damaged as well, and his back was also beginning to hurt. His arms were mostly saved by the presence of his metal armguards, which were encased in metal on all sides. The worse he expected to happen was for some of the metal to be melted; his forearms felt unusually warm, but not painfully so. The layer of leather underneath the metal was probably responsible for that. His back, scalded by the molten metal, would probably need treatment if the wounds didn't go away after they escaped the labrynth.

When Rikku offered to pull her up, Ériu extended her fractured hand, pain flaring up the instant the Jounin's hand closed over hers. The Nagarian's better hand released the cord and clasped Rikku's wrist. She made no complaints when the Konoi flung her over her back and carried her to safety. She'd reluctantly accepted the fact that she was a little more than dead weight to the group of more experienced shinobi, especially now that one of her main weapons was busted. Yeah sure, it bothered her, but she'd have to save the sulking for later. Right now, she wanted to be where she could control herself better: on dry, solid earth.

The moment her feet touched the ground, Ériu began to observe the remaining battle, searching for an opening just in case she was needed. As soon as the monster hit the floor and began to tremble in agony, apparently defeated, the Nagarian knelt to the ground and began to catch her breath and nerves. She was tired and was going to need some time to rest before she could go on ahead.

As Mishio set foot in the northerly passage way, the scent of burned flesh, leather and hot metal wafted towards Tei. "Well that doesn't look pretty..." he muttered as he dug through his pouches. It would just happen that he had no first aid kit on hand. "Sorry, I don't have anything to treat burns, though I do have some water." He held the liter canteen out to Mishio, looking slightly sheepish. The water would do little to help those injuries, but it was better than nothing.

The puppet he had floating over the lava glided softly back to him and he hooked it to his back with the straps, partially dislodging the perched cat. Eriu was bent over on the floor, obviously winded and quite possibly in pain. A glance at her hand would reveal that it was quite bruised, and possibly broken, no doubt from punching the chimera. I should really start carrying a couple of bandages at least. Situations like this occur more frequently than I might wish. Turning to the others he "It might be best to rest so we can all catch our breath."

(sorry again for the delay. Things just are getting a bit hectic lately.)

Rikku shrugged at the boy's suggestion. Her fighting style was more conducive to retaining her stamina and energy, rather than exerting too much. But she was still used to working with those that played it a bit closer to the chest when they fought. Taking a seat, she took out her nail file, working to trim the borders of a few of her nails to pass the time while the others caught a breath.
"Playing a bit dangerously, eh Mishio?"

She made the remark not so much to be critical of him, but to make idle chit chat about the recent turn of events, as they were pretty much the only things she and him had in common at the moment, as far as she knew anyways. Well, this and the fact they both knew Zack, but talking about another man tended to get a bit on the boring side of things.

She didn't want to make any particular note of the shape Eriu was in, or why Mishio considered to bring her for such a potentially dangerous mission. She was way too wet behind the ears to be here. But yet here she was, and blaming Mishio for bringing a liability along, wasn't going to change that. Instead she'd just do what she could to keep things going with minimal cause for harm in the group.

It didn't seem the chimera was going to be getting up; only his skin was fireproof apparently. Well, good for him. Mishio didn't make it out unscathed, but he certainly came out better then his opponent. With his work done, he took a glance at the others. Yazuka and Bakuto seemed to be fine, but Eriu apparently sustained an injury to her arm, though he couldn't tell what. I hope she didn't try to hit the thing head on. Though he suspected that might have been the case; at Eriu's level hitting the thing might have done about as much damage to her as it did to her target, even if she used Repel. If she'd been more careful about the spot and angle she struck, it was possible to avoid injury, but Eriu probably didn't have that kind of training yet. Well, it's something to do next lesson. He thought.

With the fight over, everyone begain doing their post-battle routine, whatever that may be. Yazuka offered him a bottle of water, looking apologetic over his not having anything better to treat his wounds with. Mishio couldn't fault him; he didn't even have that much. “Thanks.” Mishio said, and promptly poured it over his burned back, clenching his teeth as the pain flared up upon contact with the water.

Rikkou mentioned that he'd been fighting pretty riskily, and he instinctively felt the urge to “bite back” or at least have a good excuse. “It's this damned floor.” Mishio said, his voice colored with frustration. Whoever designed it knew what they were doing, and the thing knew how to take advantage of it.” It was probably something Mishio would try to figure out how to deal with in a future training session, but he couldn't afford to think about it deeply until they were out.

After a few minutes of catching their breath, if everyone looked ready to go, he'd start moving towards the only path they could; back upstairs. Fortunately, it turned out to not be the place they'd come from.

“So... which way should we go now?” Mishio mused, hoping that his injury wasn't hindering his brain power, and that he'd just asked something stupid. If anyone came up with any good suggestions, he'd follow them.

Did she hit the thing head-on? Of course she did. Had she been thinking about the consequences of the act at the time? Of course not! It's not like Ériu had the time to think anything through when that giant ape-thing had been bearing down on her. So now she was left with a few broken fingers and a bruised ego, knowing that she'd really have to think outside the box as far as surviving had to go.

The Nagarian spent her time recuperating and checking out her hand, testing each finger and wincing whenever heated pain shot through her hand. This. Sucked. Mostly, she kept to herself, ignoring what little conversation there was going on amongst the group and focusing on what she was going to do if they ran into another problem like that. For a moment, Ériu wondered if Mishio wasn't regretting asking her along on this little trip.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself. . . A shake of the head, a huff of a breath, and the blonde was back on her feet, ready for the next step in the adventure. Well, as ready as one could be with a handicap. She'd follow the rest of the group, as expected, and would try not to stare at the burns on the Konoi's back. The last time she'd seen him hurt, she'd almost lost her mind, and the Nagarian did NOT want that happening again, especially now.

Climbing up the stairs, the Genin almost expected them to give-out and crumble beneath the weight of the four adventurers, sending them to whatever doom that lay beneath. But so far so good, and they were able to make it to the top of the stair case. Ériu's mouth practically fell open at the sight of the familiar room. Right back where we started. . . She was starting to wonder if this entire thing wasn't just some test of patience rather than of valor. Peering around, she noted the small room that had caved beneath them earlier.

"In the other room. . .What do you think caused the floor to collapse? I mean, I doubt it had anything to do with our combined weight. . .especially since it's able to hold up those caged monsters."

Tei could almost hear the sizzle as the water ran down Mishio's burned back. He swallowed, feeling sympathetic pain in his gut as Mishio clenched his teeth against the sudden pain that would no doubt spring up as the water ran over the injuries. Based on the look of the injuries, if Tei had been the one get his back turned into charcoal, he'd have been out for hours, and then probably have been unable to do anything to help for the remainder of the mission. The fact that Mishio was still standing and seemed to be ignoring the pain raised him in Tei's eyes.

As the group began to move again, he resisted checking on Eriu's hand. Looking at it would only make him feel even more queasy, and lacking anything to repair it in his pouches he'd only stress himself out over it. Besides, he said as he she shook head, seeming to resolve something to herself, she seems to have recovered well. As well as one could be with such an injury... He remembered the cracking sound that it had made when she punched the chimera and gave a slight shudder. Maybe he wasn't cut out to be a ninja, if it entailed doing things like that. Just think smart, and stay out of the most dangerous of situations and you'll be fine, he chastised himself.

The group reached the top of the stairs and a groan escaped from his lips. They were back in the dark room. Somehow, the burning heat of the lava room had been more pleasurable than this one. "So that was a dead end? Or are we missing something." He thought on Eriu's question for a moment and then answered. "Well this place seems hostile; those traps weren't exactly put there for decoration. It was most likely another trap to catch the unwary, with a little insurance in the form of those Chimera." He looked around the room, warily glancing at the areas that the Chimera had been. "We better be a bit more careful about searching this place." From where they stood, Tei would look around the room to see if anything had changed. If not, then he'd begin to make his way over to the pair of hallways.

OOC: Training for Barometer Since Mishio’s not interacting with anyone, and everyone’s supposed to be resting, feel free to ignore this the following posts.

IC: As they rested, something odd came to Mishio’s attention. Even though he’d felt nothing but pain after his back had been burnt, after he’d poured the water he’d gotten from Yazuka over it, he felt something a little different about it. Sure, it had been significantly more painful when the water made contact and a bit cooler after it absorbed some of the heat and eased the wounds a little. However, now that that had more-or-less died down, and the pain wasn’t as severe, he felt another sensation in his back. Not all of it; some parts were simply in pain, or ominously numb, but the parts that weren’t felt another sensation. At first, he thought it was the damaged nerves reacting to false stimuli, but now he wasn’t so sure. It felt like they were reacting to something, something that was definitely there, but not something he was used to feeling. As if, because they took damage, even though they were sending pain signals to his brain left and right, they had also become sensitive in other ways; sensitive to things they hadn’t been able to perceive before. Perhaps something that could be of use to him in the long run. Maybe….

Before he could do anything like that though, he had to figure a few things out. Most importantly, what had the nerves on his back become sensitive to? While they were definitely reacting to something, he had no idea what. Was it heat? The area they’d been in just now had been pretty hot, especially with the molten metal on the floor. However, he shouldn’t have been able to sense that, now that they were back up on the floor above it, and the floor had reformed. So heat was definitely out. Was it some kind of supernatural aura-thing the labyrinth gave off? Mishio assumed (and hoped) not. If that was all it was, not only would that make it very difficult for him to figure out, but it wouldn’t be very useful either; he could usually tell if he was in some unnatural supernatural setting like this one; the lights on the walls were a dead giveaway.

Still, why would getting wounded make me more sensitive to something? If anything taking damage should have reduced my perceptive abilities. Damaged nerves and all that. Something that becomes more obvious as you take damage… I can’t think of anything at the moment. I don’t have enough info; it might not even be the injury itself, but being injured in this place, or the injury may have caused something else which made my wounds more sensitive. That sounds believable, but what’s the middle effect? It was obviously something that would require more thinking on Mishio’s part.

Mishio continued thinking about how nerves could become more perceptive due to injury. There was a story he’d read where people would become aware of supernatural creatures if they were attacked by one, but that probably wasn’t the case. That had to do with planes of reality, as well as literary devices. His wounds were neither, and its mysterious sensitivity probably wasn’t anything that dramatic. His life wasn’t in danger, for one, and he hadn’t suddenly become aware of a previously unknown presence. Besides, he could already see most supernatural creatures like those chimeras just fine. There was probably a more scientific explanation for the new sensations. There was a chance they were hallucinations; accidental messages sent from the damaged nerves, who’s function had been disrupted by the injury. That happened fairly frequently, like the spots in a person’s eyes after looking at a bright light. The bright light overloaded the nerves and caused them to keep sending signals to the brain even when they weren’t really there anymore. This could be just more of the same, only with his sense of touch instead of his sight.

That said, he didn’t think it was that either. Not only would that be useless, but it wasn’t like any false stimuli he’d ever sensed before. Usually, damaged nerves associated with touch either continued to be in pain, or went numb. While he didn’t know what it was yet, he was pretty sure this was neither; it was definitely something real that he was sensing, he just didn’t know what the “something” was yet. Of course, if he did know what it was, he wouldn’t bother with all the thinking he was doing.

For the time being, the sense he was getting hadn’t changed in the least, and he realized that he could get a step forward by changing that. If it was reacting to something, then the feeling would probably change as whatever it was reacting to changed. The fact it hadn’t changed yet meant that whatever it was reacting to was currently stable and unchanging. That was both good and bad. If it was changing, that would probably mean something was happening. However, that also meant he had no helpful data to help him figure out what it was reacting to. Maybe if he changed location, whatever it would reacting to could also change, and he’d be able to compare the two different locations, and he’d be one step closer to figuring out what it was. Trying to act natural, Misho took a few steps forward; he didn’t want to draw any attention to what he was doing from the other shinobi; it would require some unnecessary explanations, and he was too caught up in what he was doing to take the time to do so.

As Mishio took a few steps, at first there didn’t seem to be any change. However, when he walked back to his starting position, he did notice a slight change; it was barely noticeable, but he was able to catch it a second time. A slight lessening of whatever he was sensing. However, the change only lasted a few milliseconds; almost as soon as he stopped walking, the feeling of the change vanished. What was that about? Did whatever he was now perceiving have something to do with movement? What he was looking at? Something else entirely? He quickly discounted the second possibility; barring the possibility of synthesia, which was unlikely, they were completely different senses, though it was possible that what he was facing was a factor. Well, that didn’t help very much, but at least it’s a start. It had given him something to think about, and ruled out a couple possibilities, though not by much; he had a feeling the correct answer was in the “something else” category. He still had quite a bit to work out about his new perceptiveness.

To be sure, Mishio took a look at the different ways he’d been facing. Neither one was noticeably different; both were facing different sides of the room, particularly those strange walls with the moving lights. It also couldn’t have been temperature; it hadn’t been any different, even when the feeling of the whatever’s presence had briefly lessened, so it couldn’t have been that. Things like colors, the size of the room, and so on couldn’t have been factors either, which in turn ruled out a number of other possibilities. There was still quite a few left though; he needed to test it more if he wanted to figure it out.

For his next test, Mishio simply began walking in circles. Though it would probably look a bit strange to his teammates, it wasn’t unduly so, they would probably write it off as impatience or anxiety, though he hoped it wouldn’t be the latter; he was supposed to be in charge after all. If he started acting strange, they’d all be worried.

To his dismay, he didn’t feel any real change. There might have been some, but if there was, it was so small he couldn’t perceive it, even if he was concentrating on doing so. That was a pain in the rear, since he didn’t really have anything new to work with. Or did he? Something was different, that caused my back to not react. Was it the direction? Distance covered? Speed? He had to have been doing something wrong, he was sure about that, but what? I guess I’ll try something else. Slowly to avoid attention, Mishio slowly began to slide his body downwards into a sitting position.

OOC: Sorry to disregard your placeholder Inu, but you haven’t posted, and I’d like to get this trained.

IC: If walking around had caused his back to ract a little, would a slight change in elevation cause it to as well? The answer was apparently no, he didn’t feel any difference. Well that wasn’t much help Mishio thought in annoyance. He needed some better ideas for how to figure this out. Something more shinobi-esque perhaps? After thinking that, the very next thing to come to mind was chakra. Would it react to chakra? That was one test Mishio was hesitant to carry out; there was a pretty good chance he’d need all the energy he could get in their next fight. Even though he’d managed to go through the last one using only a minimal amount, he didn’t think he could get away with that again, not with his current injuries. He’d probably have to fight seriously in the next round. And that meant he didn’t have a lot he could waste for training at the moment. Darn it.

Maybe it would be fine as long as he kept the amount he used for this to a minimum. He’d probably have to do that anyways; he didn’t really feel like answering anyone’s questions about what he was doing, so he wanted to keep it low profile as much as he could. That meant he could only do little things, not that he knew how to do any big ninjutsu, being a taijutsu specialist and all. Something they won’t notice, hmm? I think I can do that. He began with a genjutsu. He only knew one, and it was a D-rank, so the chakra loss would probably be too smm for him to worry about. The technique’s effect would probably need some minor adjustments though. Holding up one hand, he snapped his fingers, using the genjutsu Pull on himself. He wasn’t quite sure how he’d react to it, since it would basically cause him to be drawn to himself, but the best-case scenario- that he wouldn’t be effected by it, seemed to have taken place. Unfortunately, it didn’t set off the feeling in his back, so whatever it was, the presence of a genjutsu wasn’t what triggered it. That would have been nice, just knowing you’re in a genjutsu is half the battle against such illusions. Aw well. Feeling a bit disappointed, he ended the genjutsu.

Alright, so chakra in my brain dosen’t trigger it. I probably should have guessed as much though; it’s my back, not by brain. I guess next I should figure out if the presence of external chakra is what’s setting it off. I should probably use a basic, but which one…
