Yes... let's design a fortress with the express purpose of letting someone inside first. *facepalm*
At least this creates a realistic situation where an invader tries to kinobori, only to fall off (and be spotted), rather then mysteriously know never to try at all.
Though it WOULD be nice to have such a list anyways, so that the impossibility isn't brought up a week or so after the event happens
Well, if we also set up a system where we shoot homing-artillery pieces (also known as elemental dragon jutsu) at anyone flying/being thrown into the village, it becomes an effective defense
Also, we would know exactly WHERE and WHO the invaders are at least, before they blow up the place

I'm absolutely horrified that this needs to be clarified, but apparently it does. If someone is asking for clarification on a crit in their app, they are not trying to argue. They are trying to get clarification for it, because the crit wasn't sufficiently clear, as clarity is need to argue it, or fix the app.
Inu and Sei bring up something interesting. Let's be honest. How many of us have actually read the Village Reports in the last year, or how many of us actually remember what we read that long ago? Throw in the other jutsu Yur quoted too. I wasn't even aware that those techniques existed in the first place. It's kind of a mess.
Maybe we could transfer/sticky the Village Reports to their corresponding Village sub-forums? That could help at least a little.
Personally, I don't have a problem with village attacks and wars. It's part of the experience of rping ninja. I just feel that upping security would be the right thing to do for a village that's been attacked multiple times in the past.

Fair enough, but it's still some pretty important information regarding the village, and it's drowned out by a lot of flavor text. It makes things difficult to spot when you have information many people care little about, and somewhere hidden within it, is some pretty important information.
See, thats fine and dandy, but it was even not known to the RP mod presiding over the thread until a few posts in, and by that point the post order had already begun establishing, and people were posting. So I'd have to A) adjust my post to include my failure to scale the walls, and thereby changing several other people's posts as they could then be better alerted to my attempt to enter the village, changing RP that was already there, or B) change my post to include a new way of getting inside. I opted for the one that would cause the least amount of hassle.
Not to mention, it'd be nice if there was a "these security measures were implemented at x time" so that people know if they are new additions, or just things that were always there, and if they were new additions just how new are they. Because as it's been said in another thread, 2/3 of the attacking shinobi in nagare are formally from the village. And so it'd be nice to know just how new these implementations are so that those trying to break in can know whether their character would be aware of various security measures or not.
Neko: I'd rather they not start blowing up the place, and that assumes that the only way into the village is to be launched into it and not just fly into it.
Ivory: I've read the Hyougaan village report several times in the year before the Nagare invasion actually. You know, since I'm supposed to know in general what goes on in Hyouga and had been planning for ANBU Captain off and on for a while. If it's part of the setting, you might want to get to know it. As for transferring the village reports, yeah it will help, but if you don't bother reading the guides in the first place the gain will be minimal.
Inuyasha: 1) General doesn't always tell his forces the entirety of his defenses. So just because you're an ex-shinobi from a village doesn't mean you'll know everything about the village.
2) A post can be interrupted anywhere in its sequence. It's not anybody's fault you decided to have a post that lasted at the very least a couple minutes and didn't bother doing any reconnaissance on the village you are trying to attack. If I were the RP mod I would've cut into your post at the point where you attempted to Kinobori and then informing you that you fell on your ass and created a noise that a sentry overheard. Because not having guards watching the barrier is silly.
3) Village defenses is not exactly information I would want out in the open. People attacking villages actually get a lot of leeway in that they barely need to contend with much force. You are attacking a village filled with ninja and only 2-3 ninja meet you? I realize this happened in Naruto every time we saw an MN attacking a village, but this isn't Naruto and we have various shinobi of (supposedly) equal strength as opposed to the wonder ninja in Naruto who far outclass anybody else.
Anyways, sorry if I hurt your feelings, just know that it wasn't the point of my arguments.
Maybe for the npcer's sake, in the mission/crime of an invasion/village assault it should be written in the npc section what the defenses are even if its just jutsu/weaponry and not actual people, though this would only be ooc info since missing nin shouldn't really have that info and it would save everyone the trouble of trying to look it up later.

*points at Hyouga* so basically I can agree with that
Since pretty much every invasion involves blowing up/away structures, I would say it is even more unrealistic to not expect a house in a hidden village to blow up, then it is to assume a building won't be hit by an earthquake in California. Could buildings be build with this idea in mind? Like, rather then make them hard as possible, focus on avoiding brittle materials, and go with materials that aren't too dangerous if they fall on civilians?
If we have access to chakra magic when building the village, we could even go with some material that upon destruction turns into some material that protects (rather then harms) those trapped under it, and supplies them with air. At least make hospitals out of something like that.

I rather like that idea...
