    Default Communitcation

    Suggestion Outline
    Getting a voice communication server.

    Suggestion Specifics
There are a lot of them but I would recommend raidcall its free support 1000 users and is easy to administrate.
    What would change: nothing
    How it would change: N/A
How it benefits us: It would enable people to communicate more quickly.
Why it matters: People are social creatures and the more you enable communication the more likely they are to grow in number and time spent.
Problems/concerns involved (if applicable): SPAM!. This can be moderated by taking global voice chat way in the main lounge or setting it to were no members cant talk.
Anything else relevant to your specific suggestion (if applicable): N/A

    Suggestion Outline
    Using IRC for site chat

    Suggestion Specifics
I am not sure if this has been suggested or not but it is fairly easy to do. Admittedly I don't know that kind of impact it would have on site performance to add something like Mibbit to the site but
The main idea is you setup a IRC channel on gamesurge for example and them add or build a web base IRC client into the site which with any luck should reduce server load on the site .
    What would change: Chat
How it would change: Real time chat view users on the tavern as well.
Why it matters: Again people are social creatures and this would enable them to socialize more quickly.

If there was a server there should be like 100 rooms

Because i dont see how this situation will work

Player A talks to player C
Player G talks to player C
Player W talks to player Z
    Player ....

there would be to much parallel dialogs and it would lean to flooding of the server

Unless there will be rooms. That would be good people would just join/leave a room when ever they want to talk to the people in that room..

Hence the reason the main room would be chat locked so only admins could talk there. Raidcall allows you to make as many channels as you want.

I don't see how an official VoIP server would benefit the game, much. The main occasion TNR players would need to use voice chat is during raiding, and if they're using it for that purpose, they'll already have private Ventrilo/Axon/TeamSpeak/whatever rooms set up just for their small group.

A site-wide VoIP server for raid communications will be largely unused due to the fact that generally anyone can pop into a room and listen in on the conversation. Allowing that to happen would be poor tactics, so raiders will use their own private rooms.

Another concern is moderation: with text, we have an efficient storage system for reports of infractions. With audio, that's not so simple. It'd have to be recording pretty much 24/7, and audio files take up substantially more space than text. Without a reporting system, there's a ton of room for a user to claim they were banned from chat "for no reason". There'd also have to be a few moderators on the chat at all times to make sure everything is nice and peaceful.

So in my opinion (and just that, my opinion), it's not worth the hassle it would take to operate.

But there is one they fear. In their tongue, he is Trollvahkiin -- 4chanborn!

As TM said (indirectly), this sounds like a user-end kind of suggestion, rather than staff-end.
If the service you're suggesting costs money, find a free alternative and advertise it around in your nindo and the nindoes of prominent users.

The staff can't be in charge of voice chat for the obvious reasons TM listed. Anything officially run by the staff must be able to be moderated. Even an "off-site text chatroom" is almost impossible to moderate. The linking of accounts between TNR and the off-site would help, but that's also easily bypassed.

Putting something like this up opens new avenues for harassment and trolling. I'm completely and utterly against a staff-run operation such as this.

User-run? Go for it. If it gets too out of control, simply shut it down. Or, most likely, it would get itself shut down due to less and less users getting on it to get harassed and trolled if it comes to that.

    Spoiler!
