Territory Wars: A Potential New System
In a recent discussion in Content General, the topic of Territory Wars came up, and we wanted to share some thoughts on where we could take the system.
The Return of Shrine Territory Wars
When Shrines were first introduced, the intention was for villages to compete over territory. However, that didn't last very long. Villages quickly raced to capture as many Shrines as their limits allowed, and territorial competition eventually came to a standstill.
With the new Village War System allowing Shrines to be destroyed, we're beginning to see that original concept return.
Destroying a Shrine opens up a Shrine slot, creating opportunities for villages to target and capture territory previously controlled by another village.
It's still not a perfect system, but territorial competition is back in play, and that's something we'd like to continue developing.
A New Type of Territory War?
We've also been considering introducing another form of Territory War that would operate independently of Shrines and Village Wars.
For those who participated in or watched the recent war between Shirohana and Akasumi, you'll already be familiar with the new War Camp System.
We're considering expanding on that concept by introducing a similar event where every village and faction competes for control of a single objective.
The idea is relatively straightforward:
- Open Competition: All villages and factions can participate in the same territory objective.
- Single Objective: Everyone competes to secure control of one contested location.
- Rewards: The winning village or faction receives temporary buffs lasting a set number of hours, along with Village Tokens.
- Recurring Events: These competitions would take place on a timed cycle, giving everyone regular opportunities to participate.
Unlike traditional Village Wars, this system would not require villages to declare war against one another. Instead, it would provide a separate opportunity for villages and factions to compete over objectives and earn rewards.
We Want Your Feedback!
This is still an idea we're considering, and nothing has been finalized.
While we think this could be an enjoyable addition to the game, ultimately, you are the players who will be participating in these events.
We'd love to hear your thoughts. Would this be an enjoyable addition to TNR? What would make the system more interesting? Are there any changes or improvements you'd recommend?
All suggestions and feedback are welcome. Your input will help us determine how best to approach this system.
