Rank is not the same as level. Level comes from experience; rank is an exam (or equivalent) that unlocks systems. The live rank list is Student, Genin, Chunin, Jonin, Elite Jonin, plus Elder and None for special accounts.
What changes at each rank
- Student — academy, tutorial, dummy fights. No open PvP.
- Genin — more missions and jutsu, village join, still no open PvP.
- Chunin — open PvP, clans, harder missions, leaving the village.
- Jonin / Elite Jonin — high-end PvP, politics, kage challenges.
Exam requirements are quest content and can change. Take them from the academy or mission hall when your logbook says you are ready. Old unofficial manuals that mention “150 defence and 6 intelligence” are Core 3 — ignore them.
