I understand there is confusion about the new rules and how external discords are treated within TNR. We are aware of some situations and are working to find solutions within the scope of the rules.
I would like to take this time to clarify a few things.
1. TNR does not moderate unofficial servers
Players, including staff members, are free to create Discord servers based on villages, clans, factions etc. However, those servers are run and moderated by the players who create them. Even if some are created by staff, they are considered unofficial and do not have to abide by TNR rules. If you are experiencing harassment, we strongly encourage you to leave and report it to Discord Trust & Safety if needed.
2. In-game rules apply to in-game behaviour
If a dispute arises, staff will not get involved except for extreme and serious cases such as doxxing, stalking, or evidence of in-game rule-breaking (ex. Bug abuse, more than 2 accounts etc.). However, if disputes from unofficial spaces end up in-game,
staff will moderate based on in-game actions, regardless of who is in the right when it comes to the overall dispute.
3. Defending another user does not justify breaking the rules
We understand the desire to support friends, especially if you feel they have been wronged. However, bringing and escalating the situation in-game does not justify breaking the rules or disrupting the tavern. If someone is breaking the rules, report them to staff instead of retaliating. If they are not breaking rules in-game, we suggest using the blacklist option in-game or on Discord.
4. We will moderate based on rules, not based on taking sides
When we take action, it is not based on who is “right” or “wrong” in a situation. We take action based on who we have determined instigated the situation in-game, or who was disrupting the tavern. It is not a reflection of whose side we support. It just means that person also broke the rules. Mods cannot always see what goes on in every server or every side of a situation outside of the official TNR spaces. What we do see is what is reported, the comments leading up to that report, and what is in the tavern while we are watching. We make our judgments based on that information.
Final reminder:
If you have concerns about something serious, you can reach out to myself or a moderator privately through DMs or a Discord ticket. We strongly encourage users to use the blacklist feature in-game as well as blocking any users you do not want to interact with on platforms such as Discord.
We also wish to encourage the practice of online safety and remind you not to give out personal information, social media, or account names on other websites to anyone you do not know. We want this game to be a fun and fair space for everyone.
