Long ago, before the Enenra became creatures of pure shadow, there was one among them who fell in love with a mortal. Her name was Aika, a shrine maiden devoted to the spirits of the land. Aika was known for her beauty and grace, but it was her kindness and gentle heart that truly captured the attention of the spirits. Among those who admired her was an Enenra, who watched over her from the shadows, drawn to her warmth like a moth to a flame.

The Enenra, who had no name of his own, was unlike the others of his kind. He was fascinated by the light of the world, especially the light that shone within Aika. For years, he watched her silently, protecting her from harm, though she never knew of his presence.

One fateful night, as Aika performed a ritual to honor the spirits, a dark force descended upon her village. The Enenra, seeing the danger that threatened his beloved, materialized in his true form—a swirling mass of smoke and shadow. He fought fiercely to protect her, driving the malevolent spirits away, but in doing so, he revealed himself to Aika.

Far from being frightened, Aika saw the Enenra’s true nature—a soul of darkness, yes, but also one of deep loneliness and yearning. She spoke to him softly, thanking him for his protection and offering him the one thing he had longed for but never dared to hope for—her friendship.
