Gain experience (XP): Fight enemies, complete missions, and finish quests to earn XP needed to rank up. Complete exams (like Chunin Exam): You need to pass these to move to the next rank (Genin → Chunin → Jonin). Meet stat/level requirements: Make sure you reach the next level threshold and meet any required stats or achievements. Talk to the promotion NPC: Some games have a special character in a village who officially promotes you after you qualify.
