The Land of Wind stretches wide beneath an unsettled sky, its horizons defined less by distance than by motion. Grasslands roll outward in long, uneven waves, shaped by steady currents that never fully subside. Travel here is dictated by endurance, as the wind presses constantly against those who cross the plains, testing balance and resolve with equal persistence.

To the west, the open land tightens into rising hills and dense forests. Their canopies overlap in heavy layers, dimming the light and cooling the air beneath. Sounds carry differently here, muffled by foliage and earth, while movement within the trees is sensed more often than seen. The forest feels watchful, not hostile, but aware.

To the east, the air thins and cools as higher winds drift down from the Snow country. They temper the warmth of the plains without erasing it, carrying with them the scent of stone and cold water. This meeting of climates forms no sharp boundary. Instead, it creates a gradual shift, a quiet blending that defines the land long before any settlement comes into view.

Beyond the open plains, the land begins to fold inward. Wind patterns change, becoming less predictable, slipping around outcroppings and through shallow ravines. Visibility shortens as low mist gathers in the hollows, clinging to the ground and dispersing without warning. Paths remain, but they are less certain, shaped as much by habit as by intention.

Here, sound loses its reliability. Voices travel farther than expected in some directions and vanish entirely in others. Footsteps echo briefly, then are carried away, leaving only the wind to mark passage. Travelers often describe a sense of being guided without understanding how, as if the land itself were narrowing the options available.

Stone begins to rise in earnest at the edges of this region. Rock faces break through the soil, uneven and weathered, forcing movement along specific routes. Water appears more frequently, cutting shallow channels that glisten briefly before disappearing into fog. It is here that the feeling of being observed takes root, subtle but persistent.

The cliffs emerge suddenly, sheer walls of stone that leave little room for hesitation. They rise sharply from the land, catching light at different hours and casting long, shifting shadows across the ground below. Wind funnels through narrow passes, gaining strength as it is compressed, carrying mist and spray along with it.

Water flows constantly through these corridors. Waterfalls spill from unseen heights, their paths carved deep into the rock over centuries of pressure rather than force. The air thickens with moisture, softening edges and blurring distance. Sightlines shorten until the world feels enclosed, defined by sound and movement rather than vision.

It is here that signs of habitation first appear, though rarely in clear form. Smoke drifts upward in thin, steady trails, dispersing quickly in the wind. Stone steps emerge from the cliff face, worn smooth and partially hidden by shadow. The approach offers no grand reveal, only fragments that suggest something deliberate lies ahead.

The Village of Current reveals itself gradually, as if permitting entry rather than announcing its presence. Pagodas emerge from the cliffs, anchored directly into the stone, their roofs curling upward in quiet defiance of gravity. Timber and rock are joined seamlessly, each structure following the natural lines of the terrain instead of reshaping it.

Wind moves freely through the settlement, threading between buildings and along open walkways. Hearth fires glow behind shuttered windows, their smoke rising in steady columns before being carried away. The scent of fire clings lightly to wood and stone, marking daily life and constant readiness without ceremony or display.

Within the village, there are no singular points of focus. Paths, bridges, and dwellings form a unified whole, built with restraint rather than dominance. The people move with the same economy as the land itself, present without spectacle. Here, nature is not subdued or challenged. It is observed, accommodated, and trusted to keep the village as it has always been—enduring, balanced, and unseen.
