Old Scroll from the Lake

The scroll was found resting at the bottom of the lake, but alas, the waters have seeped into the scroll case. Now, its once-clear inscriptions have become blurred, making the ancient writings difficult to decipher. The only discernible mark upon the scroll is a faint depiction of a tiny sand oasis, encircled by lush forests and verdant fields. A most curious and perplexing image indeed. Is there, perhaps, such a place upon this globe?
